Motor Vehicle Mechanic – Faro Mine Site


Full time (non-rotational)

NEED:

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Motor Vehicle Mechanic will be responsible for performing both preventive and repair maintenance of heavy and light equipment at the mine site. Typical duties will include but are not limited the following:

  • Perform troubleshooting, light repairs, preventive maintenance, failure analysis, parts inspections, diagnostic analysis and other tasks relating to a mechanical workshop.
  • Working with a large selection of equipment such as excavators, dozers, rock trucks, loaders, backhoes, compressors, light trucks, etc.
  • Ensuring that repairs and maintenance are being completed as per manufacturers specifications in a safe, cost and time effective manner
  • Ensuring that a proper stock of inventory is on hand for all maintenance related items so that down time is held to a minimum
  • Plan and schedule maintenance services and repairs
  • Communicate with the site team to coordinate maintenance and repair work
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must possess an interprovincial journeyperson license with combined with at least 5 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy or light equipment
  • Candidate must have the ability to operate heavy equipment
  • Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various elemental conditions including rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg
  • Valid class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement
  • Computer Skills -Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good organizational skills, with ability to manage and prioritize several assignments simultaneously
  • Proven ability to concentrate, pay attention to detail, organize, priority set and be a team player
  • Proven understanding of safe work practices and mitigating risk
  • Ability to work with little supervision and function in a multidiscipline environment


Qualifications

  • Must be willing to relocate to Yukon for a full time, year round non-rotational position.
  • 5+ years of experience performing the duties of a motor vehicle mechanic.
  • Courses in automotive maintenance desirable. National certification a plus.
  • Air-conditioning refrigerant recycling certification is a plus.
  • Desirable to have tools to perform the assigned duties upon commencing work.
  • High school diploma or GED.
