After 40 years, duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars capture moments in automotive history.
This year, duPont REGISTRY, the source for supercars since 1985, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In that time, some of the world’s most desirable, iconic, and influential luxury and exotic cars have graced the cover of our magazine over the past 40 years, and together, the cover cars of duPont REGISTRY’s hundreds of monthly issues tell a story of automotive history and its evolution since the ‘80s.
Looking back at duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars from the year 2009, some serious nostalgia is stirred up for any automotive enthusiast, and each year, a cover car shows an iconic moment of the past, when a car we see as a classic today was the hottest new creation on the market. Take a trip down memory lane and look at our 2009 magazine covers below, and continue to celebrate our milestone anniversary by buying a copy of our special 40th anniversary edition magazine.

January – Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider 16M
When Ferrari won the 2008 Formula 1 Constructors Championship, it marked the 16th time the Prancing Horse achieved that feat, and to celebrate, it took the roof off of the intense and exclusive 430 Scuderia, resulting in the rare and still desirable 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider 16M, a car that was shown on the cover of duPont REGISTRY in January 2009.

February – Lamborghini Gallardo Underground Racing Twin Turbo
Lamborghini’s iconic V10 supercar got a high-performance upgrade from Underground Racing, using a twin-turbo conversion to bring its power level to 1,026 hp, being shown off on the Feburary 2009 cover of duPont REGISTRY. Even in the landscape of supercars today that has plenty of four-digit horsepower numbers, this figure is still quite staggering.

March – Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Mansory Vincero
Bugatti’s groundbreaking hypercar got an extra dose of exclusivity and head-turning design when Mansory got its hands on it in the form of the Vincero, shown off on our March 2009 cover.

April – Gemballa Avalanche
One of the most iconic nameplates from Gemballa, the Avalanche was featured on our April 2009 cover.

May – Audi R8 GT3
Audi’s legendary R8 supercar saw its early racing variant, the R8 GT3, take the cover of the May 2009 issue of duPont REGISTRY.

June – Ferrari 599XX
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano was the V12 grand touring flagship of the late 2000s for Ferrari, succeeding the 575 Maranello. The 599XX was its uncompromising racing-only variant, an ultra exclusive and formidable Ferrari performance machine with dramatic looks that are shown off on our June 2009 cover.

July – Hennessey HPE 700 Chevrolet Camaro, SS Motorsports Camaro
Two high-performance Chevrolet Camaros were shown off on our July 2009 cover. One was Hennessey’s HEP 700 makeover of the Camaro that had, at the time, only just revived the nameplate since the retirement of the F-Body generation. The other was SS Motorsports’ take on the original Camaro.

August – Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Hamann Volcano
The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is, of course, one of the favorite supercars of the 2000s. However, this version of it, with customizations from Hamann, is extra special and featured on our August 2009 cover.

September – Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV
By September 2009, the Lamborghini Murciélago era was coming to an end, and one of the vehicles that helped send it off, with more intense power, lightweight construction, and aggressive aero meant for the track, and it was shown off on our September 2009 cover.

October – Iconic AC Roadster
Monstrously powerful, this classic-inspired performance beast paid homage to the legacy of the AC and Shelby Cobra. With its 800 horsepower and top speed above 200 mph, the Iconic AC Roadster was on our October 2009 cover.

November – Devon GTX
Based on the Dodge Viper, the Devon GTX was made to be the next legendary all-American supercar, however, only two cars were completed. It was featured on our November 2009 cover.

December – Porsche 911 GT3 RS
The 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, now a collector’s masterpiece, was featured on our December 2009 cover.
