Koenigsegg has smashed yet another record, this time at one of America’s most demanding circuits. The Sadair’s Spear, the Swedish brand’s latest homologated hypercar, which first broke cover in June this year, set a new production-car lap record at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, clocking a verified 1:24.16 on November 4, 2025.
What makes this feat even more impressive is the list of limitations in place. The only track slot Koenigsegg could secure was a 90 dB sound-limit day, Laguna’s quietest. To comply, the team quickly fabricated an extra muffler. It did nothing for performance but kept the car legal to run. On top of that, the Sadair’s Spear wasn’t even fitted with its lightweight carbon fiber wheels, instead using heavier aluminum ones.
Despite these limitations, factory test driver Markus Lundh was able to push the car to a record-breaking lap verified by Racelogic around the 2.24-mile circuit known for its elevation changes, off-camber corners, and the legendary Corkscrew. The record was previously held by the Czinger 21C with a time of 1:25.44 set in 2021.

“We knew that the Sadair’s Spear had the potential to beat the lap record. To achieve this feat with the added muffler behind the car shows the potential for even greater performance on a less noise-restricted day. That the everyday-usable and livable Sadair’s Spear — with Autoskin, electric seats, sound deadening, amplifiers, and more — can outperform stripped-out track cars is a true testament to the depth of engineering that goes into our creations. I am very proud of our results and achievements, made possible only through solid and passionate teamwork.” – Christian von Koenigsegg.
The Laguna run came right after Koenigsegg’s appearance at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, where the Sadair’s Spear was showcased alongside other hypercars and collector cars during one of the weekend’s headline events. Following the display, the team seized the opportunity to take the car to Laguna Seca for a quick test and walked away with a record.
The Sadair’s Spear is Koenigsegg’s successor to the Jesko Absolut and packs a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 hybrid system that can produce up to 1,600 horsepower on E85 fuel, sending power through Koenigsegg’s innovative 9-speed Light Speed Transmission to the rear wheels. It tips the scales at just 3,053 pounds, and with E85 fuel, it has a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.
In the short time since its debut, the Sadair’s Spear has also bagged several records this year, which include the Fastest Production Car at the Goodwood in July, where it set a time of 47.14 seconds up the iconic Hill Climb, and the Gotland Ring record over in Sweden, where it beat the Jesko Absolute by 1.1 seconds for a time of 2:55.88.
