The first images of the 2021 Nissan Frontier have leaked online revealing a pickup truck that looks much more modern than the outgoing model.
Nissan first teased the new Frontier back in May and, prior to its global debut, three photos have surface that show the new pickup in LE 4×4 guise and in a more off-road-focused version that could be the new Pro-4X model.
Up front, these photos from FormaCar show Nissan has fitted its new pickup with sleek new headlights complete with LED daytime running lights. The white example also features a large grille with a chrome surround that stretches up onto the hood. Found at the rear are distinctive taillights with a unique lighting graphic and a tailgate with ‘Frontier’ lettering. It all looks rather nice and certainly brings the Frontier into the modern age.
The second example pictured is clearly the new off-road-focused variant of the Frontier and includes a matte black grille with large ‘Frontier’ lettering, a bullbar, plastic cladding on the wheel arches and unique wheels with all-terrain tires.
In terms of power, the all-new Frontier will use the same 3.8-liter V6 that Nissan introduced earlier this year for the 2020 model. This engine has 93 per cent new or redesigned parts and produces 310 hp and 281 lb-ft (381 Nm) of torque. It is mated to a new 9-speed automatic transmission that replaces the five-speed automatic and manual transmissions of older, pre-2020 Frontier models.
