{"id":12895,"date":"2021-11-04T00:03:51","date_gmt":"2021-11-04T04:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/auto\/?p=12895"},"modified":"2021-11-04T00:03:51","modified_gmt":"2021-11-04T04:03:51","slug":"lexus-f-brand-changes-sema-builds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=12895","title":{"rendered":"Lexus announces new F performance structure at SEMA and shows off IS builds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lexus\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\">Lexus<\/a> just announced a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/03\/26\/lexus-f-label-f-sport-performance-sub-brand-future\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">F brand<\/a> strategy at <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/sema\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">SEMA<\/a>, and while the products themselves are not getting a massive overhaul yet, it\u2019s vital to understand the new terms if you plan on being in the market for a sporty Lexus soon.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to today, we had F Sport, F Sport Performance and F. The F Sport cars were mostly aesthetic upgrades, and while some of them had performance upgrades, not all of them did. Only one F Sport Performance vehicle exists now, and it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/09\/10\/2022-lexus-is-500-f-sport-first-drive-review\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">the IS 500 F Sport Performance<\/a>. Meanwhile, we have a number of F models, which is Lexus\u2019 highest-performance moniker.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Going forward, there will be four performance tiers: F SPORT Design, F SPORT Handling, F SPORT Performance and F. We\u2019ll lay out Lexus\u2019 definitions of all four below for you.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>F SPORT Design: These vehicles may feature sport-inspired exterior design, including unique front and rear bumpers, grille and wheels.<\/li>\n<li>F SPORT Handling: Will build on Design with sport-tuned suspension components honed at the track, including Adaptive Variable Suspension.<\/li>\n<li>F SPORT Performance: In addition to the updated suspension components, these models may receive a higher-performance powertrain, as seen in the 2022 IS 500.<\/li>\n<li>F: As the highest expression of Lexus performance, F models will be further upgraded with innovative components developed for the racetrack, including upgraded <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/brakes\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">brakes<\/a>, advanced aerodynamics and lightweight materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So there you have it. Similar to the Germans with multiple layers of <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/amg\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">AMG<\/a>, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/audi\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">Audi<\/a> Sport and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/bmw\/m\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">BMW M<\/a>, Lexus will have multiple layers of F.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"grp-full lazy\" alt=\"\" data-original=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1600x900\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2021\/11\/03140322\/SEMA_IS_500-scaled.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In addition to this actual product news, Lexus revealed a pair of SEMA show cars. Both of them are from the IS tree, with one being an IS 500 F Sport Performance, and the other being an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2020\/10\/15\/2021-lexus-is-first-drive\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">IS 350 F Sport<\/a>. We\u2019ll start with the IS 500.<\/p>\n<p>Hiraku &amp; Townsend Bell is behind this \u201cStreet Performance\u201d IS 500. Nothing much changed with the powertrain, but it does add an A\u2019Pexi induction box, TOMS Racing <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/carbon+fiber\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">carbon fiber<\/a> suction pipe and A\u2019Pexi exhaust system. Handling is enhanced with TOMS chassis braces in the front and rear. Plus, it gets an A\u2019Pexi adjustable coilover system. Rotiform LAS-R 20-inch wheels are wrapped in Nitto tires, and a Brembo GT <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/brakes\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">braking system<\/a> improves stopping power.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You can tell that the IS 500\u2019s appearance has been modified, too \u2014 it\u2019s sporting a one-off 3-D-printed <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/1PAitws\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\" rel=\"noopener\">body kit<\/a>. The Hiraku Co. designed it, adding a front lip, trunk lid spoiler, side steps, rear diffuser, front fenders, canards, roof spoiler and rear bumper garnish. Both the hood and trunk are made of carbon fiber, too.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"grp-full lazy\" alt=\"\" data-original=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1600x900\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2021\/11\/03140310\/SEMA_IS_350-scaled.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>As for the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lexus\/is+350\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">IS 350<\/a>, the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/aftermarket\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">aftermarket<\/a> work is done by DSPORT and Scott Pruett. However, Lexus says it\u2019s only partly done, and will be fully finished by SEMA 2022. By the 2022 show, it\u2019s promised to have over double the current horsepower than it currently has (311 horses) and even more track enhancements. For now, most of the enhancements are aesthetic. It gets an Artisan Spirits\u2019 body kit, Advan Racing forged wheels (for racing), 20-inch Rotiform wheels (for show), and both sets are wrapped in Michelin <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/honda\/pilot\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">Pilot<\/a> Sport 4S rubber. Suspension work currently consists of KW Variant 3 coilovers, but there\u2019s more to come. The carbon ceramic brakes from the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lexus\/rc+f\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:15;\">RC F<\/a> Track Edition are used, and a roll bar is fitted inside.
