Evidently, Shell is taking the transition to electric vehicles very seriously and wants to continue to sell you energy for personal mobility in whatever form that may be.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13\">\n<p>\u201cOur name is changing, but our vision to lower carbon emissions is more focused than ever,\u201d said Andreas Lips, CEO, Greenlots. \u201cWe have ambitious targets and as Shell Recharge Solutions we will further integrate the expertise shared across three businesses to provide more customers with smart EV charging solutions, delivered through a consistent brand experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>We recently reported that the company is also getting into the home charging business and licensed the Shell Recharge name to a company called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyintelligent.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Sky Intelligent<\/a> to manufacture and distribute a level 2 portable EVSE.\u00a0Sky Intelligent provided InsideEVs with a 40-amp unit for the purpose of a full review which we posted two weeks ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<section class=\"relatedContent-new\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"related-content\" data-widget-size=\"content\" data-params=\"%7B%22type_id%22%3A0%2C%22title_id%22%3A%22%22%2C%22items%22%3A%5B%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22542313%22%2C%22title%22%3A%22Shell%20ReCharge%20EV%20Charging%20Station%20Ultimate%20Review%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22shell-recharge-charging-station-review%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22is_video%22%3A%221%22%2C%22images%22%3A%7B%22s5%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.motor1.com%2Fimages%2Fmgl%2FMNXMm%2Fs5%2Fshell-recharge-review-thumbnail.jpg%22%7D%7D%2C%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22532574%22%2C%22title%22%3A%22Will%20Shell%20Oil%20Become%20An%20Industry%20Leader%20In%20EV%20Charging%3F%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22shell-oil-leader-ev-charging%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22is_video%22%3A%220%22%2C%22images%22%3A%7B%22s5%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.motor1.com%2Fimages%2Fmgl%2FWPj8o%2Fs5%2Ffully-charged-checks-in-on-first-shell-recharge-station-video.jpg%22%7D%7D%5D%7D\">   <\/section>\n<p>The press release also noted that Shell\u00a0currently installs an electric vehicle charge point every 20 minutes and that it&#8217;s\u00a0Shell\u2019s ambition to operate 500,000 charge points by 2025 and 2,500,000 by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re not surprised to see Royal Dutch Shell make such an aggressive move into the EV charging space. Quite honestly, we&#8217;re surprised we haven&#8217;t seen similarly aggressive actions by the other big oil companies (hello ExxonMobil?).<\/p>\n<p>Maybe they just believe they can flip a switch and transition to become an EV charging provider when they need to &#8211; or perhaps they don&#8217;t believe electrification will happen as quickly as some others predict.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the electric vehicle charging network Greenlots announced that it will rebrand to Shell Recharge Solutions in early 2022.
