That\u2019s a big boost from the original limit of $64,000 for vans, $69,000 for SUVs, and $74,000 for pickups. A $55,000 MSRP appears to remain in place for sedans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At the same time however, the bill reportedly drops the maximum single-filer income for eligibility from the previous $400,000 down to $250,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">An expanded EV tax credit, which had garnered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1122547_ev-tax-credit-extension-gets-bipartisan-juice-in-senate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bipartisan support<\/a> on its own\u2014although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1126443_ev-tax-credit-extension-likely-dead-because-of-trump-opposition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nixed by Trump<\/a>\u2014has turned into a more toxic topic with the Biden Administration\u2019s addition of a union-made requirement. The pushback now includes Tesla, nearly every foreign automaker, and groups of state governors and even ambassadors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Earlier this week Toyota put out a particularly strong statement about the issue\u2014essentially saying that this bill values the American autoworker less if they haven\u2019t joined a union.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Toyota, which has produced a new ad campaign to counter the union requirement, continued: \u201cAnd what does this say to Americans who want to buy an electric vehicle to combat climate change? It says having more electric vehicles on the road is secondary to promoting unionization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">That might not be the intent, but with the package itself rapidly evolving, this could be subject to yet another round of change.
