China Is Surpassing NIO, XPeng And Li Auto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/volkswagen\/\">Volkswagen<\/a> boss Herbert Diess has congratulated its Chinese division for the fact that the ID. familiy has reached a volume of <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/546810\/china-volkswagen-sales-id-october2021\/\">nearly 13,000 units in October<\/a>, pointing out that it&#8217;s more than some of the prominent domestic competitors like <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/nio\/\">NIO<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/xpeng\/\">XPeng<\/a> and Li Auto.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s quite an unusual approach to refer so directly to competitors, but we know that Herbert Diess is trying to change the Volkswagen Group &#8220;slightly&#8221; and is using Tesla as an example.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/cnevpost.com\/2021\/11\/11\/volkswagen-ceo-congratulates-id-family-for-outselling-nio-xpeng-li-auto-in-china-in-oct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>CnEVPost<\/em><\/a>, Herbert Diess wrote Weibo (Chinese social platform)<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"15\">\n<p>&#8220;The ID. family continues its steady growth momentum in the China market.<\/p>\n<p>In October, ID. models sold nearly 13,000 units in a single month, surpassing domestic competitors including NIO, XPeng, and Li Auto.<\/p>\n<p>The Volkswagen brand ranked third in October sales of new energy vehicles.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/herbert-diess-china-20211110-weibo.png\" alt=\"external_image\"\/><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>Herbert Diess notes also the importance of safety of electric vehicles, but that&#8217;s something Volkswagen does not have problems with.<\/p>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/volkswagen-id-sales-in-china-october-2021.png\" alt=\"external_image\"\/><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>Currently, the Volkswagen brand offers in China five models &#8211; ID.4 CROZZ and ID.6 CROZZ (through FAW-Volkswagen) and ID.3, ID.4 X, ID.6 X (through SAIC Volkswagen).<\/p>\n<p>Soon, the offer of the group will be expanded with more MEB-based models, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/539812\/audi-q5-etron-vw-id6\/\">including Audi Q5 e-tron (VW ID.6&#8217;s cousin)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell how well Volkswagen will progress. Tesla has averaged over 20,000 sales per month over the first 10-months of this year (compared to over 11,000 in 2020).
