{"id":13514,"date":"2021-11-16T00:02:41","date_gmt":"2021-11-16T05:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/auto\/?p=13514"},"modified":"2021-11-16T00:02:41","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T05:02:41","slug":"china-byd-plugin-sales-october2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=13514","title":{"rendered":"China: BYD Sold Staggering 80,000 Plug-In Cars In October 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/byd\/\">BYD<\/a> reports an outstanding streak of plug-in electric car sales records with another huge monthly result in October.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the Chinese manufacturer managed to sell* <strong>over 80,000<\/strong> plug-in cars (mostly in China), which is <strong>263% more<\/strong> than a year ago!<\/p>\n<p><em>* CPCA reports wholesale shipments (China and export), not registrations\/deliveries.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This result comes after 40,116 in June, 50,057 in July and 60,508 in August and <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/541922\/china-byd-plugin-sales-september2021\/\">70,022 in September<\/a>, which indicates that BYD likes to increase the bar by about 10,000 units a month.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t know how far it might go, but even maintaining the 80,000\/month rate would translate into close to 1 million per year. That&#8217;s Tesla territory, although Tesla sells only BEVs, while BYD is kind of 50\/50 with PHEVs now.<\/p>\n<p>The plug-in car sales also stand for 90% of the total BYD car sales, which once again indicates the fade of ICE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BYD car sales breakdown:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BEVs: 41,232 <\/strong>(<strong>up 176%<\/strong> year-over-year)<\/li>\n<li><strong>PHEVs: 38,771<\/strong> (<strong>up 444%<\/strong> year-over-year)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Total: 80,003<\/strong> (<strong>up 263%<\/strong> year-over-year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/byd-plug-in-electric-car-sales-in-china-october-2021.png\" alt=\"external_image\"\/><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>So far in 2021, the company sold in China over 410,000 plug-ins (up 226% year-over-year).<\/p>\n<p><strong>BYD car sales breakdown:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BEVs: 226,356<br \/><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>PHEVs: 184,445<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Total: 410,801<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/byd-plug-in-electric-car-sales-in-china-october-2021-b.png\" alt=\"external_image\"\/><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"embed-item\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"embed\" data-embed-code=\"%3Cblockquote%20class%3D%22twitter-tweet%22%3E%3Cp%20lang%3D%22en%22%20dir%3D%22ltr%22%3EWe%26%2339%3Bre%20proud%20to%20have%20set%20another%20sales%20record%20this%20October!%20%F0%9F%8E%89%2080%2C003%20NEVs%20hit%20the%20roads%20this%20October%2C%20an%20increase%20of%20more%20than%20262.9%25%20from%20last%20year.%20More%20importantly%2C%20it%20means%20that%2080%2C003%20vehicles%20are%20driving%20passengers%20closer%20to%20a%20future%20with%20zero-emissions.%20%F0%9F%8C%B3%F0%9F%94%8C%E2%9A%A1%EF%B8%8F%20%3Ca%20href%3D%22https%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2FUkXk1LmHuf%22%3Epic.twitter.com%2FUkXk1LmHuf%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%26mdash%3B%20BYD%20Europe%20(%40BYD_Europe)%20%3Ca%20href%3D%22https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FBYD_Europe%2Fstatus%2F1456274790881247243%3Fref_src%3Dtwsrc%255Etfw%22%3ENovember%204%2C%202021%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Fblockquote%3E%20%3Cscript%20async%20src%3D%22https%3A%2F%2Fplatform.twitter.com%2Fwidgets.js%22%20charset%3D%22utf-8%22%3E%3C%2Fscript%3E%20\">\u00a0<\/section>\n<p>Multiple BYD models set new all-time high monthly results or were near the previous best results.<\/p>\n<p>The top one is of course the BYD Qin Plus DM (PHEV), which has raised the bar to 17,503 units and is now officially the most popular BYD plug-in car with over 78,000 units YTD.<\/p>\n<p>The BYD Song DM (PHEV) also sets a five-digit record of 11,706. Then we can see BYD Qin Plus EV record of 8,405 (new record), which together with the PHEV version translates into a total of 25,908 for the Qin Plus.<\/p>\n<p>Other records are <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tag\/byd-dolphin\/\">BYD Dolphin<\/a> (6,018), BYD Song EV (4,588), BYD e2 (4,150) and BYD e3 (1,012). The BYD Han EV and Han DM (PHEV) are close to their records as well.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s clear to us that with such outstanding results, the company might still be production constrained and could go even higher.<\/p>\n<p>Demand for the Dolphin model &#8211; the first based on the all-new e-platform 3.0 platform and Ocean series &#8211; is quite high. The Chinese media (<a href=\"https:\/\/cnevpost.com\/2021\/11\/03\/byd-says-it-has-9963-orders-for-its-dolphin-model-in-oct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>CnEVPost<\/em><\/a>) says that about 10,000 orders were placed in October alone. A few models appear to be, at least temporarily, retired.<\/p>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/byd-lineup.jpg\" alt=\"external_image\"\/><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>According to the data (via <em>Moneyball<\/em>), besides plug-in cars, BYD delivered last month also 1,037 commercial electric vehicles, including 570 buses.
