{"id":13532,"date":"2021-11-16T06:01:59","date_gmt":"2021-11-16T11:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/auto\/?p=13532"},"modified":"2021-11-16T06:01:59","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T11:01:59","slug":"modely-performance-vs-mache-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=13532","title":{"rendered":"Ford Mach-E GT Performance Almost Beats Tesla Model Y Performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tesla <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/model-y\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"1\" data-params=\"%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22tesla%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22model-y%22%7D\">Model Y<\/a> is one of the best electric all-rounders money can buy right now, and in range-topping Performance guise it will out-accelerate almost any other car it will meet on the road.<\/p>\n<p>What if that car is the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition, you ask? That\u2019s what <em>Edmunds<\/em> wanted to find out (among other things) by pitting its <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/features\/505731\/tesla-modely-edmunds-reliability-2020\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22505731%22%2C%22section%22%3A%223%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22tesla-modely-edmunds-reliability-2020%22%7D\">Tesla Model Y Performance long-termer<\/a> against the top-dog Mach-E model.<\/p>\n<p>This comparison makes a lot of sense because if you look at the Mach-E GT Performance Edition\u2019s specs it will be clear that it\u2019s squarely aimed at the Model Y Performance.<\/p>\n<p>The dual-motor Mach-E boasts 480 hp and 634 lb-ft (858 Nm) of torque, which enables it to go from zero to 60 mph (96 km\/h) in 3.5 seconds, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/ford\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22ford%22%7D\">Ford<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Model Y Performance also has a dual-motor powertrain that makes 450 hp and 500 lb-ft (677 Nm) of torque. <em>Edmunds<\/em> tested the MYP\u2019s acceleration and found it to do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds\u2014only 0.2 seconds slower than the official estimate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These cars are also neck and neck when it comes to pricing, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/503403\/ford-mustang-mache-gt-performance\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22503403%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ford-mustang-mache-gt-performance%22%7D\">Mach-E GT Performance Edition<\/a> costing $69,800 as tested, while the Model Y Performance cost <em>Edmunds<\/em> $68,700. As for the driving range, the Tesla has the upper hand with a claimed 303 miles (487 km) versus 260 miles (418 km) for the Ford.<\/p>\n<p>Mind you, <em>Edmunds<\/em> does not take any of these specs for granted, thoroughly assessing the acceleration and range to find real-world values. There are some surprises in the video, but the biggest one may be the fact that the reviewer\u00a0noticed the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/ford\/mach-e\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"1\" data-params=\"%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22ford%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22mach-e%22%7D\">Mach-E<\/a> GT Performance was losing power during acceleration runs and track testing.<\/p>\n<p>As it turns out, the performance EV can only unleash maximum power for five seconds at a time in order to preserve battery life. Needless to say, that\u2019s frustrating and <em>Edmunds<\/em>\u2019 Ryan ZumMallen would rather have the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22tesla%22%7D\">Tesla<\/a>, even though it\u2019s less fun to drive on a track and the Mach-E also brakes and rides better.
