The Toyota Canada Foundation has announced it will be funding scholarships for Indigenous students pursuing post-secondary education in automotive technology.<\/p>\n

Toyota Canada Foundation scholarship recipients will be selected and awarded by Indspire\u2019s\u00a0Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships and Awards program<\/a>, which enables First Nations, Inuit and M\u00e9tis students to pursue post-secondary education and overcome financial barriers to these endeavours.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very pleased to be working with the Toyota Canada Foundation on this important initiative,\u201d said Mike DeGagn\u00e9, president and CEO of Indspire. \u201cNot only is it the beginning of a promising partnership, it also represents a significant new opportunity for Indigenous students to pursue their dreams through education.<\/p>\n

Over the next two years, Indspire will select six Indigenous students pursuing post-secondary education in a Canadian automotive technology program to receive a Toyota Canada Foundation scholarship. Each student will receive $5,000 per year, for two years, for a total of $10,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past few years, the Toyota Canada Foundation has helped encourage hundreds of thousands of Canadian kids and youth to pursue an education and career in STEM through its support for national organizations like Actua and Let\u2019s Talk Science,\u201d said Leslie Miller, treasurer, Toyota Canada Foundation. \u201cNow we\u2019re proud to be able to help some of those students take the\u00a0next<\/em>\u00a0step in their education and career by working with Indspire\u2019s terrific Building Brighter Futures program to provide financial support for Indigenous students interested in automotive technology.\u201d<\/p>\n
