The company based in Irvine, California is now valued $151.95-billion, while second-place Toyota is valued at $262.02-billion and fourth-place VW has a market cap is now $139.52-billion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/byd\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22byd%22%7D\">BYD<\/a> is in fifth place, with an estimated market value of $133-billion, followed by Daimler with $108-billion, GM with $91-billion and, in eighth place, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/lucid\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22lucid%22%7D\">Lucid<\/a> with $89-billion.<\/p>\n<p>Electric vehicle startup market caps shooting up to seemingly unbelievable levels is no longer as surprising a development ever since Tesla became the world\u2019s most valuable automaker, even though by sales volume, it lags far behind established players like Volkswagen, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/toyota\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22toyota%22%7D\">Toyota<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/mercedes-benz\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22mercedes-benz%22%7D\">Daimler<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/538329\/stellantis-prioritizes-ev-production-europe\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22538329%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22stellantis-prioritizes-ev-production-europe%22%7D\">Stellantis<\/a>, all of which are now several times less valuable.<\/p>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/screen-shot-2021-11-17-at-113045-am.png\" alt=\"external_image\"\/><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>But sales volume plays little part in an automaker\u2019s valuation, more important being the continual growth that a manufacturer has (preferably above analysts\u2019 predictions), how much money it makes per vehicle, which is why we\u2019re going to see more similar automakers climb up the value ladder.
