{"id":13652,"date":"2021-11-17T13:29:29","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T18:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/auto\/?p=13652"},"modified":"2021-11-17T13:29:29","modified_gmt":"2021-11-17T18:29:29","slug":"tesla-tsla-secures-new-197-mwh-megapack-order-autobidder-ai-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=13652","title":{"rendered":"Tesla (TSLA) secures new 197 MWh Megapack order to go on its Autobidder AI platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tesla (TSLA) has secured a new Megapack order for 197 MWh of capacity to deploy in the UK and use its Autobidder AI platform.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-211651\"\/><ins class=\"adsbygoogle author_ad\" data-ad-host=\"ca-host-pub-5506057612223327\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4655152367470280\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"\/>\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Megapack has quickly emerged as the leading battery system for large utility-scale energy storage systems.<\/p>\n<p>It helped Tesla\u2019s energy division accelerate storage deployment and the company has now built an impressive backlog of orders.<\/p>\n<p>It added to it this week with Harmony Energy and Tag Energy\u00a0announcing a new partnership on two new projects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chapel Farm standalone Battery Energy Storage System of 49.5MW\/99MWh near Luton, England<\/li>\n<li>Jamesfield Farm standalone Battery Energy Storage System of 49MW\/98MWh near Abernethy, Scotland<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The energy companies confirmed that the projects will be powered by Tesla\u2019s Megapack and Autobidder:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Both projects will use Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries, together with Tesla\u2019s Autobidder AI software for real-time trading and control.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last year,\u00a0<em>Electrek<\/em>\u00a0spotted a previously unknown new product from Tesla:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2020\/05\/03\/tesla-autobidder-new-product-electric-utility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Autobidder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a real-time trading and control platform for energy assets, like Tesla\u2019s Powerpacks, Powerwalls, and Megapacks, optimized through\u00a0machine learning to better use and more directly monetize the assets.<\/p>\n<p>As of earlier this year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/03\/16\/tesla-autobidder-managing-over-12-gwh-energy-storage\/\">Tesla Autobidder now has over 1.2 GWh of energy storage under management<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But the automaker has been adding to that total rapidly, including with these two new projects adding almost 0.2 GWh.<\/p>\n<p>They plan for\u00a0both projects to start construction in Q1 2022, with commissioning planned for Q1 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The combined value of the projects is estimated to be $80 million and it will help the UK grid take better advantage of renewable energy and stabilize the infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>It will also add to Tesla\u2019s heavy energy storage deployment schedule next year.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the company has been deploying energy storage systems at a rate of over 1.2 GWh per quarter, and it is expected to increase significantly over the next few years as more battery cell supply becomes available.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla also recently broke ground on a new \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/09\/22\/tesla-tsla-breaks-ground-megafactory-produce-megapack-batteries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Megafactory<\/a>\u201d to build Megapacks.<\/p>\n<p>They aim to produce as much as <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/10\/08\/tesla-megafactory-aims-40-gwh-megapacks-per-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">40 GWh of Megapacks per year<\/a> at the new factory.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-disclaimer-container\">\n<p class=\"disclaimer-affiliate\"><em>FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/about\/#affiliate\">More.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3DbiQvv\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Jackery-Pre-Black-Friday-Native-Banner.jpg?quality=82&amp;strip=all\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-211276\" width=\"750\" height=\"150\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<hr\/>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCcOIZzJgLCyMPILY7-1Vsdg?sub_confirmation=1\">Subscribe to Electrek on YouTube for exclusive videos<\/a> and subscribe to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrek.co\/guides\/electrek-podcast\">podcast<\/a>.<!-- youtube embed --><\/p>\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\"><iframe title=\"Recent Videos\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/w-ZFaarhlVI?playlist=I4c9rey6clU,0cQNtQiegE4,TJSpuz09sq0,msWPqdiy6wA,3pLNFwpPCT4,RuMPT0uQfhs,v4bLE52ZzMk,suoEHfeNzzA,NtbX_XeoRDU\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
