Toyota provided some detail about its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134196_2023-toyota-bz4x-ev-electric-suv-photos-specs-range-review-info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023 bZ4X electric SUV<\/a>, which will come to the U.S. with some\u2014but not all\u2014of its standout tech. Expect America to get the radiant floor heat, an energy-saving heat pump, and a smartphone-based digital key system; but you might be waiting a while longer for the steering yoke or the solar roof.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper first_wrapper\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100815733_m\" title=\"2023 Subaru Solterra\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"2023 Subaru Solterra\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" class=\"first_image lazy\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"680\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/subaru_100815733_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/subaru_100815733_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/subaru_100815733_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/subaru_100815733_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/subaru_100815733_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/subaru_100815733_s.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2023 Subaru Solterra<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At the LA auto show, Subaru also revealed its closely related <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134131_2023-subaru-solterra-bows-no-yoke-for-boxer-brands-first-mainstream-ev\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023 Solterra electric SUV<\/a>. Developed together with the bZ4X, the Solterra\u2019s distinguishing feature might be that it\u2019s only expected to arrive with all-wheel drive. Estimated range is more than 220 miles, with an 80% charge expected in 30 minutes. And Fisker previewed its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134198_2023-fisker-ocean-electric-suv-photos-specs-range-review-info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023 Ocean EV<\/a>. Set to arrive late in 2022, the Ocean will start at just $37,499, with an LFP battery and estimated 250-mile range, stepping all the way up to top Ultra versions with 350 miles of range, a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds, and an NMC pack. The many thoughtful features include a pivoting infotainment screen and a California Mode that can roll down rear Doggie Windows and tailgate windows.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100815648_m\" title=\"Kia Concept EV9\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Kia Concept EV9\" width=\"640\" height=\"441\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"705\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/kia-concept-ev9_100815648_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/kia-concept-ev9_100815648_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/kia-concept-ev9_100815648_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/kia-concept-ev9_100815648_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/kia-concept-ev9_100815648_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/kia-concept-ev9_100815648_s.jpg\" class=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Kia Concept EV9<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Among LA show concepts, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134205_hyundai-seven-concept-points-to-a-300-mile-electric-family-suv-due-in-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hyundai Seven concept<\/a> points to a family-oriented Ioniq 7 electric SUV that\u2019s due in 2024. Expect its racy and streamlined yet truncated profile to carry through to the production model, but maybe not the pivoting seats. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134133_kia-ev9-concept-production-bound-electric-suv-la-auto-show\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kia EV9 concept SUV<\/a>\u2014previewing a production EV9\u2014took a different design direction, with a super-boxy exterior, with a minimalist interior that\u2019s a showcase for sustainable materials. But it too featured pivoting seats.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kia earlier in the week unveiled the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134207_2023-kia-sportage-hybrid-debuts-39-mpg-compact-suv-can-tow-2-000-pounds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hybrid version of its redesigned 2023 Sportage<\/a> compact crossover. With up to 39 mpg, a tow rating of up to 2,000 pounds, and a choice of front- or all-wheel drive, the Sportage Hybrid looks positioned for wide appeal as part of Kia\u2019s plan for more electrified models. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134214_taycan-gts-sport-turismo-third-body-style-of-porsche-ev-is-a-performance-wagon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo<\/a> combines the silhouette of the rugged, gear-oriented Cross Turismo with the road-focused suspension of the other Taycan models\u2014essentially creating a Taycan sport wagon.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hyundai\u2019s Genesis luxury brand this week revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134224_genesis-electrified-gv70-us-bound-ev-800v-fast-charging\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a fully electric version of its GV70 SUV<\/a>. The model, called the Electrified GV70, might be built in the U.S., but for now Genesis teased a whole lot of tech, including an active suspension and active noise cancellation systems, auxiliary power bank capability, and a smart-regen single-pedal driving mode.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100816051_m\" title=\"Genesis Electrified GV70\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Genesis Electrified GV70\" width=\"640\" height=\"407\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"651\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/genesis_100816051_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/genesis_100816051_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/genesis_100816051_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/genesis_100816051_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/genesis_100816051_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/genesis_100816051_s.jpg\" class=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Genesis Electrified GV70<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134166_2022-subaru-crosstrek-hybrid-still-goes-17-miles-electric-is-unique-among-affordable-plug-in-hybrids\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid<\/a>\u2014a plug-in hybrid\u2014returns for another model year with the same 17-mile plug-in electric range and 35-mpg fuel economy as a hybrid. It could be a good alternative for Solterra shoppers who can\u2019t plug in all the time.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Electric SUVs were the lowest-rated group in the latest reliability ratings from <em>Consumer Reports<\/em>\u2014yet hybrids and plug-in hybrids earned the top position. CR singled out the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius as among the best, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134213_evs-worst-reliability-hybrids-phevs-best-consumer-reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tesla Model Y as \u201cmuch worse than average\u201d for reliability<\/a>. The base price of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134162_tesla-model-y-base-price-breaks-60-000-tops-original-price-of-model-s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tesla Model Y<\/a> has broken $60,000\u2014which is now more than the original base price of the Model S in 2012. With no Standard Range model in the lineup, it\u2019s $17,000 higher than just earlier this year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100776331_m\" title=\"2021 Tesla Model Y\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"2021 Tesla Model Y\" width=\"640\" height=\"342\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"547\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/tesla-model-y_100776331_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/tesla-model-y_100776331_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/tesla-model-y_100776331_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/tesla-model-y_100776331_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/tesla-model-y_100776331_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/tesla-model-y_100776331_s.jpg\" class=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2021 Tesla Model Y<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Swedish battery supplier Northvolt announced that it has made a functioning EV battery <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134177_northvolt-first-ev-battery-cell-recycled-nickel-manganese-cobalt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">using recycled nickel, manganese, and cobalt<\/a>. The process can be scaled up, potentially providing automakers another way to help add stability to the supply chain.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ford told something of an origin story about its so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134181_2022-ford-f-150-lightning-electric-truck-frunk-more-than-the-space-left-over\">Mega Power Frunk in the 2022 F-150 Lightning<\/a> electric pickup. Specifically, it\u2019s Hyundai\u2019s first attempt at a luxury car, fitted with the brand\u2019s modern Parametric Pixel lighting and infotainment interface.
