{"id":15915,"date":"2022-02-21T09:05:23","date_gmt":"2022-02-21T14:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=15915"},"modified":"2022-02-21T09:05:23","modified_gmt":"2022-02-21T14:05:23","slug":"netherlands-plugin-sales-january2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=15915","title":{"rendered":"Netherlands: January Brings A 100% Geely-Volvo Plug-In Podium Finish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the fact that the overall new car registrations in the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tag\/netherlands\/\">Netherlands<\/a> were down about 11% year-over-year in January, plug-ins are growing surprisingly fast.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ev-volumes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EV Volumes<\/a>&#8216; <\/em>data shared by Jose Pontes, last month about <strong>7,128<\/strong> new plug-ins were registered, which is <strong>62% more<\/strong> than a year ago, and the new high for the month of January.<\/p>\n<p>Not only that, plug-ins noted a very strong market share of <strong>23%<\/strong>, including 10% for all-electric cars.<\/p>\n<p>The most interesting thing is that in the usually PHEV-rich early part of the year, all-electric car sales almost tripled.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BEVs: 3,076<\/strong> (up 181%, 10% share)<\/li>\n<li><strong>PHEVs: 4,052<\/strong> (up about 22%, 13% share)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Total: 7,128<\/strong> (up 62%, 23% share)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/plug-in-electric-car-sales-in-the-netherlands-january-2022.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"16\" height=\"9\"\/><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>For reference, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/562012\/netherlands-plugin-car-sales-2021\/\">in 2021, about <strong>95,464<\/strong> new passenger plug-in cars were registered in the Netherlands<\/a>, which is <strong>over 7% more<\/strong> than in 2020. The market share improved to <strong>30%<\/strong> (including 20% BEVs and 10% PHEVs), a full five percentage points above 2020 (25%).<\/p>\n<p>Most of the registrations were plug-in hybrids, including three in the 100% Geely-Volvo podium: Lynk &amp; Co 01 PHEV (362), Volvo XC40 PHEV (249) and Volvo XC60 PHEV (247).<\/p>\n<p>The first all-electric model on the list is the MINI Cooper SE (230), which also is kind of surprising.<\/p>\n<p>The top plug-in model of 2021 &#8211; Skoda Enyaq iV &#8211; is starting the year at #8 and 175 units. Meanwhile, there is no Tesla or Volkswagen ID.3\/ID.4 in the top 20, while at the same time, there are a few Porsches (Taycan is #16 with 132 units).<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at the top-selling plug-ins for the month:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Lynk &amp; Co 01 PHEV &#8211; 362<\/li>\n<li>Volvo XC40 PHEV &#8211; 249<\/li>\n<li>Volvo XC60 PHEV &#8211; 247<\/li>\n<li>MINI Cooper SE &#8211; 230<\/li>\n<li>Ford Kuga PHEV &#8211; 227<\/li>\n<li>Kia Niro EV (e-Niro) &#8211; 217<\/li>\n<li>Peugeot e-208 &#8211; 186<\/li>\n<li>Skoda Enyaq iV &#8211; 175<\/li>\n<li>Hyundai Kona Electric &#8211; 169<\/li>\n<li>Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV &#8211; 162<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the case of the automotive groups, the battle is quite close, as the Volkswagen Group has 18% share, followed by Geely-Volvo (16.7%), Stellantis (15.2%) and BMW Group (14.8%).
