{"id":18236,"date":"2022-03-22T12:04:04","date_gmt":"2022-03-22T16:04:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=18236"},"modified":"2022-03-22T12:04:04","modified_gmt":"2022-03-22T16:04:04","slug":"1133656_2023-maserati-grecale-price-specs-review-photos-info","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=18236","title":{"rendered":"Preview: 2023 Maserati Grecale arrives with up to 530 hp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maserati on Tuesday unveiled the Grecale, the Italian marque&#8217;s entry into the hotly contested small luxury crossover segment.<\/p>\n<p>The Grecale is designed to directly challenge the Porsche Macan, and it even has an answer for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1121699_2024-porsche-macan-electric-spy-shots-video\">planned electric Macan<\/a> in the form of the Grecale Folgore, which was also shown on Tuesday. Folgore, which is Italian for \u201clightning,\u201d is Maserati&#8217;s branding for electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The Grecale goes on sale in the second half of 2022, though with internal-combustion engines only. The Grecale Folgore will follow in 2023. It looks the same as the regular Grecale, apart from having a unique front fascia that&#8217;s made more streamlined by having fewer openings.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6hb87aBcS30\" width=\"560\" height=\"500\" frameborder=\"0\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Grecale is closely related to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio\u2014the two crossovers are also being built at the same Stellantis plant in Cassino, Italy\u2014but to stand out, the Grecale has benefited from its own Maserati-exclusive powertrains.<\/p>\n<p>The base option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 in mild-hybrid configuration. It&#8217;s rated at 300 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque in GT guise and 330 hp and 332 lb-ft in Modena guise. Above this is a detuned version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1127505_maserati-mc20-price-specs-review-photos-info\">MC20 supercar<\/a>, rated in a Grecale Trofeo at 530 hp and 457 lb-ft, or enough for 0-62 mph acceleration in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 177 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Full specs for the Grecale Folgore are yet to be announced but we know it will come with a 400-volt, 105-kilowatt-hour battery. Next to this is the infotainment screen, which is split into two screens cascading down the center stack. At the top of the stack is Maserati&#8217;s traditional clock, made digital for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>The user interface, referred to as the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA), is powered by Google&#8217;s Android operating system. Maserati has a long-standing practice of naming its cars after winds, a practice that started in 1963 with the Mistral and continued with the Ghibli, Bora, Khamsin and Levante.<\/p>\n<p>Maserati has some busy years ahead. The MC20 has just gone on sale, and Maserati is already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1134524_2023-maserati-mc20-convertible-spy-shots\">testing an open-top version<\/a>. Next in the pipeline will be the arrival of the Grecale and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1132581_2024-maserati-granturismo-folgore-spy-shots\">redesigned GranTurismo<\/a>. Like the Grecale, both the MC20 and new GranTurismo will offer the choice between internal-combustion and electric power.<\/p>\n<p>Further out, Maserati will launch redesigned versions of the Quattroporte and Levante, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1135342_every-maserati-to-offer-folgore-electric-option-by-2025-phase-out-gas-engines-by-2030\">likely with electric power only<\/a>.
