Despite, in GM&#8217;s case at least, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1127860_gm-opposition-to-cleaner-california-standards-is-costing-it-poll-suggests\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apparent reputation damage<\/a>, opposition continued until after Trump was out of office.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration just earlier this week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135435_feds-reinstate-higher-fines-for-automakers-failing-to-meet-mpg-standards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reinstated steeper fines<\/a> related to Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) compliance.
