Yup, it\u2019s happening. The British car company has announced its all-electric <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/lotus-unveils-its-first-electric-vehicle-the-eletre-hyper-suv-214006936.html\" rel=\"\">600HP Eletre<\/a>. The company is planning deliveries to begin early next year in China, Europe, and the UK. Aside from being Lotus\u2019 first EV, it is also the brand&#8217;s first five-door production car, first model outside of the sports car segments, and first lifestyle EV, according to the company\u2019s press release.<\/p>\n<p>Users can add 248 miles of <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/category\/range-efficiency\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"8\" data-params=\"%7B%22section_route%22%3A%22news%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22range-efficiency%22%7D\">range<\/a> with 20 minutes of <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/category\/charging\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"8\" data-params=\"%7B%22section_route%22%3A%22news%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22charging%22%7D\">charging<\/a>. The Eletre has a top speed of 161 mph and goes 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. I would say I\u2019m shocked by Lotus adding an SUV to its lineup, but I\u2019m not. I have always wanted another 240 with the brick-ish shape and maybe even an engine swap. One day, maybe with an electric conversion. Anyways, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/575590\/volvo-tesla-style-casting-future-electric-cars\/\">Volvo<\/a> has announced plans to invest $1.07 billion into their Swedish manufacturing plant.<\/p>\n<p>The company plans to begin manufacturing EVs in Torslanda and introduce <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22tesla%22%7D\">Tesla<\/a>\u2019s technique of megacasting aluminum body parts. Megacasting reduces complexities in the process as well as reduces weight by casting major parts as one piece. Torslanda\u2019s paint shop will have new upgrades that will reduce energy use and emissions.<\/p>\n<p>In other Volvo news, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/03\/29\/volvo-trucks-record-order-electric-trucks-maersk\/\" rel=\"\">Volvo Trucks<\/a> received an order of 110 electric trucks from Maersk. Volvo\u2019s EV trucks can be 80% charged in 90 minutes with the six-battery package. As of now, there have not been any specific details released about the new lineup nor a specific date on which the EVs will be launched. According to Can-Am\u2019s recent press release, the EVs will be able to function strongly on and off the pavement, keeping true to the brand\u2019s past launches. The video released from Can-Am says 2024.
