{"id":21056,"date":"2022-04-28T17:48:16","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T21:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=21056"},"modified":"2022-04-28T17:48:16","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T21:48:16","slug":"us-electric-car-sales-jumped-record-high-last-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=21056","title":{"rendered":"US electric car sales jumped to an impressive record high last quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Electric car sales in the United States jumped to a record high of over 200,000 vehicles during the last quarter (Q1 2022).<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a good sign, but the US EV market is still extremely reliant on Tesla and California.<\/p>\n<p>The United States is trailing far behind Europe and China when it comes to electrifying its passenger car market. There are many factors at play, including weaker incentives and a preference for pickup trucks, which is a segment that is just now being electrified.<\/p>\n<p>But, we are starting to see a significant increase in EV adoption over the last year, and this last quarter was particularly important for EV adoption in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Using data from the California Energy Commission (CEC) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veloz.org\/ev-market-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Veloz<\/a> published a new report on EV sales in the United States that shows a record number (over 208,000) of electric vehicles delivered in the country during Q1 2022.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"US electric car sales jumped to an impressive record high last quarter\" width=\"1786\" height=\"1222\" src=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg?quality=82&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1000\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-235930\" srcset=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg 1786w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg?resize=150,103 150w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg?resize=300,205 300w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg?resize=768,525 768w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg?resize=1024,701 1024w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg?resize=1536,1051 1536w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg?resize=350,239 350w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-28-at-4.58.19-PM.jpg?resize=1462,1000 1462w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1786px) 100vw, 1786px\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The increase in gas prices and <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/04\/20\/tesla-confirms-order-rate-surged-after-super-bowl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a big Super Bowl EV ad push<\/a> seem to have helped push deliveries to a record high last quarter.<\/p>\n<p>While this is a good sign for EV adoption in the United States, the market is still highly dependent on California buying electric vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Veloz reports that EV sales jumped 29% last quarter to 81,292 EVs:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\" readability=\"10\">\n<p>California\u2019s EV market continues to grow!\u00a0This was the state\u2019s strongest quarter for EV sales to date. With 81,292 electric vehicles sold this quarter, EV sales are 29% higher than last quarter.
