First up, we took a first drive in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135733_2023-kia-sportage-hybrid-suv-test-drive-review-photos-specs-mpg-info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid<\/a>, and found it to be not just the best-driving of the new Sportage lineup but better-driving than hybrid rivals from Toyota, Honda, and Ford. After a number of charge sessions, we have to say probably not for these cars, and not now. And this past week it got a price tag\u2014$3,895, including the inverter, disconnect switch, and battery pack. You\u2019ll also need the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro (included with the Extended Range pack), and don\u2019t forget to add about $2,000 for installation.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>Tesla recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135726_tesla-stopped-including-a-mobile-charger-with-its-vehicles-it-s-not-the-only-one\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stopped including a mobile charger<\/a> with its new vehicles\u2014and so did Kia, starting with the EV6. Looking at more recent models, GM has only remedied a very small portion, though.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>The supply chain and inflation continued to drive up EV prices especially. Lucid announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135784_lucid-deliveries-no-price-hike-reservation-holders\">a price hike on its Air sedan lineup<\/a>, ranging from $10,000 to $15,000, starting June 1. Perhaps learning from Rivian, Lucid extended the original pricing to all of its current (more than 30,000) reservation-holders plus anyone reserving before June 1.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\" readability=\"7\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100836140_m\" title=\"Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance\" width=\"640\" height=\"448\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"717\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/lucid-air_100836140_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/lucid-air_100836140_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/lucid-air_100836140_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/lucid-air_100836140_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/lucid-air_100836140_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/lucid-air_100836140_s.jpg\" class=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135708_2023-polestar-2-test-drive-review-photos-price-specs-range-info\">2023 Polestar 2 lineup also got a price hike<\/a>, bringing the base single-motor version to $49,800, back above the base Model 3. Dual-motor versions get a range boost, though, and Performance Packs get more power\u2014with the latter to be offered to existing owners over the air at extra cost.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>That said, both in California and nationally, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135731_us-plug-in-vehicle-sales-hit-record-high-q1-tesla-and-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EV sales were at a record level<\/a> in the first quarter of the year, with Tesla in the sales lead at more than 10% of California\u2019s market. Within California, the market share for plug-in vehicles has essentially doubled over just the past two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>The whole U.S. Volvo lineup is electrified for 2023\u2014and that means <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135766_entire-us-volvo-lineup-for-2023-is-mild-hybrid-plug-in-hybrid-or-ev\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a mix of mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles<\/a>. The mechanism and functionality, which haven\u2019t been confirmed yet by the automaker, appear to be able to tilt the screen to either side when it\u2019s helpful\u2014for entertainment or driver focus, for instance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>Sweden-based Volta Trucks\u2014the one with some very futuristic cargo-truck designs\u2014announced plans Thursday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135782_volta-to-build-futuristic-looking-electric-trucks-in-us-teases-truck-as-a-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to enter the U.S. market with a manufacturing partner<\/a>. Power found that, surprisingly, some of the most tech-savvy companies including Rivian and Lucid are missing core functionality like remote charge management.
