The drama of the week award goes to those in Ohio. Things were looking touch and go earlier in the week for Lordstown Motors, as it still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135807_lordstown-endurance-ev-production-needs-more-cash-foxconn-fizzle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">couldn\u2019t report a final deal<\/a> with Taiwan\u2019s Foxconn with terms of their agreement just days short of timing out. But with the completion of the sale of the former GM plant to Hon Hai Technology Group, as it\u2019s otherwise called, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135832_with-lordstown-deal-complete-foxconn-pivots-to-making-evs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lordstown Endurance electric pickup is on<\/a> for production later this year. It also led to a reaffirmation of plans for Foxconn to act as the contract manufacturer for the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135838_fisker-provides-first-look-at-29-900-urban-ev-confirms-ohio-production\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$29,900 Fisker Pear EV<\/a> starting in 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>In a rumor-mill item that flipped into reality, Volkswagen confirmed that it\u2019s reviving the Scout name\u2014yes, the former International Harvester SUV\u2014for an entire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135828_volkswagen-harvests-scout-as-an-electric-suv-brand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brand of U.S.-focused electric SUVs<\/a>. Will Scout help VW provide mass-market EVs, or will it be another upscale niche brand? It\u2019s quite the testament to these trucks\u2019 demand and appeal.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>Bollinger Motors announced that Roush Industries will be its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135797_roush-will-assemble-bollinger-motors-electric-trucks-in-michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">manufacturing partner for electric trucks<\/a>, including platforms and chassis cabs. Bollinger will source the materials, while Roush will assemble them in Michigan. And sorry, the B1 electric SUV and B2 electric pickup remain postponed indefinitely.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>BMW has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135809_2025-bmw-electric-sedan-could-split-3-series-while-i5-and-i7-preserve-ice-form\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no plans to forfeit the gasoline portion of its sales anytime soon<\/a>, underscored the company\u2019s CEO Oliver Zipse, in a recent roundtable with Green Car Reports and others\u2014which he argued is why making electric variants of gasoline models, like the new i7 and upcoming i5, makes sense. They\u2019ll be testing tech that could help smooth the grid and prevent brownouts, with up to 1,000 residential customers and hundreds of commercial customers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>Electric vehicle charging stations remain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135808_report-ev-charger-vulnerabilities-might-leave-them-open-to-hackers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a potential target for hackers<\/a>, cautions a recent report that seems to lean heavily on the cybersecurity industry looking to sell services. It\u2019s another item that\u2019s cause for recall paperwork with the federal government but handled with an over-the-air fix.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>Tesla is reportedly pushing for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135829_panasonic-tesla-pushing-for-faster-development-of-4680-cells\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accelerated development of the larger 4680 cell format<\/a> from Panasonic, although the supplier has at several times pointed to technical challenges involving it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>With a range of 230 miles but a combined weight rating of up to 82,000 pounds, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135818_freightliner-ecascadia-electric-semi-production-version-bows-will-be-made-this-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">production version of the Freightliner eCascadia electric semi<\/a> revealed this week is a full Class 8 commercial truck, albeit one intended for short hauls.
