It was the 11th consecutive month of decline.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, the plug-in electric car segment is still able to note some positive results, although the numbers are suppressed by the supply constraints.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>L\u2019Avere-France<\/em>, last month some\u00a0<strong>23,984<\/strong> plug-in vehicles were registered (<strong>up 11%<\/strong> year-over-year), including 22,958 passenger plug-in cars, which represents 21.1% of the market.<\/p>\n<p>As we can see below, all-electric passenger car sales noted a relatively good growth rate of 33% year-over-year, while plug-in hybrids were down 8%.<\/p>\n<p>New plug-in vehicle registrations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passenger BEVs: <strong>12,692<\/strong> &#8211; up 33% at 11.7% market share<\/li>\n<li>Passenger PHEVs: <strong>10,266<\/strong> &#8211; down 8% at 9.4% market share<\/li>\n<li>Light commercial BEVs: <strong>976<\/strong> &#8211; up 14% at 3.6% market share<\/li>\n<li>Light commercial PHEVs: <strong>50<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Total plug-ins: <strong>23,984<\/strong> &#8211; up 11%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/plug-in-car-sales-in-france-april-2022.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/plug-in-car-sales-in-france-april-2022.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"916\" height=\"423\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>So far this year, over 100,000 new plug-in electric cars were registered in France.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registrations year-to-date:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passenger BEVs: <strong>56,198<\/strong> &#8211; up 40%<\/li>\n<li>Passenger PHEVs: <strong>39,576<\/strong> &#8211; down 7%<\/li>\n<li>Light commercial BEVs: <strong>4,163<\/strong> &#8211; up 13%<\/li>\n<li>Light commercial PHEVs: <strong>228<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Total plug-ins: <strong>100,165<\/strong> &#8211; up 16%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is difficult to say whether plug-ins will be able to maintain at least slight growth this year. A lot depends on solving supply chain constraints.<\/p>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/plug-in-car-sales-in-france-april-2022-b.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/plug-in-car-sales-in-france-april-2022-b.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"913\" height=\"423\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p><em>*some data on the charts are estimated<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/fiat\/500e\/\">Fiat 500 electric<\/a> was the top-selling electric car in France last month (just like in Germany) with 1,737 registrations.<\/p>\n<p>The second most registered was the Dacia Spring (1,568), followed by a few French models: Peugeot e-208 (1,375), Renault ZOE (1,052) and Renault Twingo Z.E. (948).<\/p>\n<p>In the case of plug-in hybrids, the Peugeot 3008 PHEV with 1,037 units is the lone leader.<\/p>\n<p>Year-to-date, the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/model-3\/\">Tesla Model 3<\/a> remains the top-selling model in France with around 6,600 units (even without any significant deliveries in April), with a surprisingly strong Dacia Spring in second place (6,521).
