Cells will be manufactured at a Washington State factory using 100% renewable energy, the companies claim.<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes is the first publicly announced automotive customer for the factory, and plans to expand use of the new cells to other models after their debut in the G-Class.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1125923_electric-mercedes-benz-g-class-launches-in-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scheduled to launch in 2024<\/a>, the electric G-Class was previewed by last year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1133458_mercedes-benz-eqg-concept-sets-g-class-on-electric-path\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EQG Concept<\/a>. That concept had a ladder frame, similar to the current G-Class, housing the battery modules. The mountain has a 3.5-mile off-road course with gradients up to 60 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, an updated version of the current G-Class is expected to arrive soon. We&#8217;ve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1134866_2023-mercedes-benz-g-class-spy-shots-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">already seen prototypes<\/a> of the standard version, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1135157_2023-mercedes-benz-amg-g63-spy-shots-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMG G63<\/a> performance version, and a high-riding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1124450_2023-mercedes-benz-g-class-4x4-squared-spy-shots-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4&#215;4 Squared<\/a> version out testing.
