It\u2019s not clear whether that refers only to how it prepares its dealers, or whether it means it will only offer EVs in states where it might see an advantage. The company plans to sell 500,000 EVs in the U.S. by 2030.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>The Prologue will be based on GM\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1127342_gm-s-ultium-propulsion-strategy-for-evs-400-miles-or-more-up-to-1-000-hp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ultium electric vehicle platform<\/a>, providing large-format pouch cells, a wireless battery management system, a suite of GM-designed motors, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135681_heat-pumps-included-in-gm-evs-could-give-them-a-real-world-range-advantage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heat-pump technology<\/a>. GM will assemble the Prologue and an upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1130833_report-acura-ev-to-be-made-in-tennessee-alongside-cadillac-lyriq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acura electric SUV<\/a>.\u00a0The Acura is expected to be assembled in Spring Hill, Tennessee, alongside the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135875_2023-cadillac-lyriq-price\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cadillac Lyriq<\/a>, but the companies haven\u2019t yet announced a location for the Prologue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Honda calls the Prologue its \u201cfirst volume Honda EV,\u201d and notes that Honda-engineered EVs will start arriving in North America in 2026. In West Coast states Honda previously sold the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1077351_2013-honda-fit-ev-first-drive-of-hondas-all-electric-car\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fit EV<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1127377_the-honda-clarity-electric-has-run-out-of-range-won-t-return-for-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clarity Electric<\/a>\u00a0models, as well as the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid and Accord Plug-In Hybrid.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong\/>Separately, Honda plans to start production and sales on a new series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135501_gm-and-honda-expand-partnership-with-range-of-affordable-evs-expected-by-2027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affordable
