{"id":23264,"date":"2022-05-27T09:03:52","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T13:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=23264"},"modified":"2022-05-27T09:03:52","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T13:03:52","slug":"1135995_buick-electra-x-concept-previews-upcoming-ultium-based-evs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=23264","title":{"rendered":"Buick Electra-X concept previews upcoming Ultium-based EVs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Buick is developing electric vehicles based on General Motors&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1127337_gm-s-third-gen-ev-platform-and-ultium-batteries-promise-400-plus-miles-of-range\">Ultium platform and battery technology<\/a> and the Electra-X concept teased this week hints at what&#8217;s to come.<\/p>\n<p>Set to debut in early June at a Buick brand event in China, the Electra-X is a follow up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1129782_buick-previews-future-styling-with-electra-ev-concept\">Buick&#8217;s Electra concept<\/a> from 2020 (shown below) and is described as an SUV styled in line with the brand&#8217;s latest design principles. Buick said those principles include clean, futuristic lines and light, airy interiors.<\/p>\n<p>The concept will also come with Super Cruise driver-assist technology and a digital dash. Buick also showed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1134217_buick-previews-a-self-driving-pod-tailored-for-the-chinese-market\">self-driving minivan concept<\/a> in 2021 that also used Ultium technology.<\/p>\n<p>The new Electra-X concept is said to specifically preview electric vehicles bound for China, though some aspects may also preview elements on Buick&#8217;s EVs destined for sale in the U.S. Buick has confirmed two Ultium-based EVs will be in local showrooms by the end of 2023, both of them SUVs. One will have conventional proportions, while the other will have a more coupe-like profile.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t be surprised if one or both of the vehicles carry the Electra name. The name was a fixture in Buick&#8217;s lineup for decades.
