That&#8217;s more than the rest of the world combined (although the number includes microcars).<\/p>\n<p>The plug-in segment, of course, has been affected by the lockdowns too, but maintains momentum and expanded its share to a very good <strong>29%<\/strong>, including 22% for all-electric cars.<\/p>\n<p>Results for the month:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BEVs<\/strong>: about *213,000 and 22% share<\/li>\n<li><strong>PHEVs<\/strong>: about *68,000 and 7% share<\/li>\n<li><strong>Total<\/strong>: 280,614 (up 61%) and 29% share<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* estimated from the market share<\/p>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/plug-in-electric-car-sales-in-china-april-2022.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/plug-in-electric-car-sales-in-china-april-2022.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"912\" height=\"442\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>So far this year, over 1.4 million new passenger plug-in electric cars were registered in China, while the market share reached 22% (17% BEVs).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BEVs<\/strong>: about *1.09 million and 17% share<\/li>\n<li><strong>PHEVs<\/strong>: about *0.32 million and 5% share<\/li>\n<li><strong>Total<\/strong>: 1,404,261 and 22% share<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* estimated from the market share<\/p>\n<p>For reference, in 2021, the total plug-in electric car registrations <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/563375\/china-plugin-car-sales-december2021\/\">increased by about <strong>153%<\/strong> year-over-year to over 3.2 million<\/a> (from <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/481465\/china-plugin-car-sales-december-2020\/\">1.27 million in 2020<\/a>). <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/558136\/china-plugin-sales-prediction-2022\/\">In 2022, the total volume might reach 5-6 million, according to some forecasts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest achievement in April is that, for the first time, a total of five plug-in models managed to break into the overall top 10 (if all versions are counted together).<\/p>\n<p>The lucky five include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV: #1 overall (27,181)<\/li>\n<li>BYD Song (BEV + PHEV): #3 overall (25,108)<\/li>\n<li>BYD Qin Plus (BEV + PHEV): #4 overall (20,292)<\/li>\n<li>BYD Han (BEV + PHEV): #8 overall (13,421)<\/li>\n<li>BYD Dolphin: #10 overall (12,040)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/584863\/china-mic-tesla-wholesale-april2022\/\">Tesla was mostly offline during the month<\/a>, as the Shanghai area was heavily affected by the lockdown, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/587500\/china-tesla-26000-evs-production-resumed\/\">but it&#8217;s returning to high volume now<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/585769\/china-byd-plugin-car-sales-april2022\/\">BYD surges with new records (over 105,000 units)<\/a>, and is #1 among the brands overall.
