It&#8217;s first battery-electric vehicle is due before the end of the decade, reporting last year putting the launch in 2028. We expect there will be a few concepts and show cars presaging the first pure EV from Sant&#8217;Agata Bolognese, and a couple of <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/trademark\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">trademark<\/a> filings could tell us what a forerunner or the car itself will be called. <a href=\"https:\/\/carbuzz.com\/news\/lamborghini-revuelto-could-be-the-electric-supercar-weve-been-waiting-for\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\"><em>CarBuzz<\/em> discovered<\/a> Lamborghini filings in Europe and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/italy\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Italy<\/a> to reserve the name &#8220;Revuelto.&#8221; The Spanish word <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spanishdict.com\/translate\/revuelto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">has quite a few meanings<\/a>, like mixed, untidy and nauseous. Then there are two meanings that could apply to a revolutionary electric product from a brand known for screaming V12s: Restless and turbulent.<\/p>\n<p>If we want to push the wordplay, there&#8217;s a third meaning we could apply: Scrambled, as in eggs, although that could also apply to expectations.<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/supercars\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">supercar<\/a> maker wants to cover every base with the name, it seems. The applications with the European Union Intellectual Property Office specify four classes, an umbrella sheltering everything from <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">electric cars<\/a> and EV components specifically to <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/auto-repair\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">car parts<\/a> and accessories in general, as well as scooters, car-related games and toys, and clothes.<\/p>\n<p>We have no idea what kind of battery-powered go-fast is coming from that corner of Italy, except that it will be a 2+2 GT described as having &#8220;a bit more ground clearance.&#8221; Superficially, that sounds like an elevated version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/lamborghini+asterion\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">Asterion LPI 910-4 hybrid concept car<\/a> (pictured), something we&#8217;d be totally OK with, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/news\/a36441763\/lamborghini-lineup-hybrid-electric-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">but the target is<\/a> &#8220;a four-seater two-door like the GT cars of the Fifties and Sixties.&#8221; Designers and engineers are working on it now, still in the exploratory phases of how to deliver everything buyers want from a raging bull the minus the trademark V10 and V12 noises. Company boss Stephan Winkelmann noted two vital aspects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/electric\/lamborghinis-22-electric-gt-car-will-be-here-end-decade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">in comments to <em>TopGear<\/em> last year<\/a>, the first being, &#8220;<span style=\"font-size: 0.99em;\">Yes, we have opportunities to be different in terms of body styles, but the cars will always be immediately recognizable as Lamborghinis.&#8221; After looks comes handling, Winkelmann adding that performance EVs have great straight-line acceleration, but not enough lateral capability to satisfy Lamborghini. &#8220;<\/span>It\u2019s about how you put all the handling capabilities inside the car, which today is missing in electric cars. We\u2019re sure we can do so.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While having an EV is a necessity, the honcho is trying to keep internal combustion going for those not ready to make the transition. &#8220;For the two super <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/performance\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:15;\">sports cars<\/a> [Aventador and Hurac\u00e1n] we want to stay <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hybrid\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:16;\">hybrid<\/a> for as long as possible,&#8221; he said, &#8220;and we want to see how much synthetic fuel can help us to keep this alive after 2030.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A last note on Revuelto: We expect the Aventador and Huraca\u00e1n names to retire when their PHEV successors arrive.
