{"id":23560,"date":"2022-06-01T09:04:38","date_gmt":"2022-06-01T13:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=23560"},"modified":"2022-06-01T09:04:38","modified_gmt":"2022-06-01T13:04:38","slug":"nio-electric-car-sales-may-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=23560","title":{"rendered":"NIO Slightly Increased Electric Car Sales In May 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NIO managed to slightly increase its electric car deliveries in May, although the company is still suffering from COVID-19 lockdowns in China.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/nio\/\">NIO<\/a> delivered\u00a0<strong>7,024<\/strong> cars, which is<strong> 5% more<\/strong> than a year ago but still relatively far from the level of 10,000 achieved a few times in the previous months.<\/p>\n<p><em>The overwhelming majority of NIO sales are in China, although in late 2021, the company started sales also in Norway (ES8 model).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>All three SUV models offered by NIO are in the red year-over-year, although the ES6 is down only 3% and remains the most popular model. An interesting thing is that the all-new ET7 flagship sedan has become the second most popular model with 1,707 units sold.<\/p>\n<p>Sales by model:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/nio\/es6\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ES6<\/a> (5-seat SUV): 2,936 (down 3% year-over-year)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/nio\/ec6\/\" rel=\"noopener\">EC6<\/a> (coupe version of the ES6): 1,635 (down 28%)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/nio\/es8\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ES8<\/a> (7- or 6-seat SUV): 746 (down 47%)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/nio\/et7\/\">ET7<\/a>: 1,707 (new)<\/li>\n<li>Total: 7,024 (up 5% year-over-year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" <\/strong>(up 11.8% year-over-year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cumulatively, NIO sold 204,936 electric cars (<a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/582200\/nio-production-200000-electric-car\/\">200,000th car has been produced on April 26<\/a>), including over 95,000 in the recent 12 months.<\/p>\n<h2>Model sales<\/h2>\n<blockquote\/>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" explains that the production had been gradually recovering from the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns in China, although deliveries were <em>&#8220;still constrained\u00a0to a certain extent by the corresponding preventive measures.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"8\">\n<p>&#8220;NIO plans to further ramp up the production capacity to a higher level by working closely with supply chain partners and to accelerate the delivery recovery starting from June, in light of the recent supportive developments in the COVID-19 situation and the strong order inflow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>All four existing models (NIO ES8, NIO ES6, NIO EC6 and the latest NIO ET7) are produced at the JAC-NIO Advanced Manufacturing Centre, also in Hefei.<\/p>\n<p>The next step will be the launch of the NIO ET5 mid-size electric sedan, which was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/555600\/nio-et5-sedan-revealed-china\/\">unveiled in December 2021<\/a>, and scheduled for market launch in Q3 2022.<\/p>\n<p>NIO announced also in May that the cumulative mileage of its EV fleet exceeded 5 billion km (3.1 billion
