{"id":23886,"date":"2022-06-06T09:04:50","date_gmt":"2022-06-06T13:04:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=23886"},"modified":"2022-06-06T09:04:50","modified_gmt":"2022-06-06T13:04:50","slug":"stellantis-stla-large-platform-windsor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=23886","title":{"rendered":"Stellantis Confirms STLA Large Platform For Windsor Assembly Plant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stellantis announced that the Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada will produce vehicles based on the new STLA Large platform.<\/p>\n<p>The STLA Large platform is one of four new BEV-centric platforms (together with STLA Small, STLA Medium and STLA Frame), <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/518975\/stellantis-comprehensive-electrification-strategy\/\">announced by Stellantis in July 2021<\/a>. It can support battery packs of up to 101-118 kWh to achieve a driving range of up to 800 km (500 km).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not yet been revealed what new models will be produced at the site, but the new multi-energy vehicle (MEV) architecture will allow producing battery-electric vehicles, as well as hybrids\/plug-in hybrids. Retooling is expected to begin in 2023.<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"7\">\n<p>&#8220;&#8230;the\u00a0Windsor Assembly Plant\u00a0will be transformed to support battery-electric vehicle (BEV) capability for multiple models. The plant will have maximum flexibility to adjust production volumes as needed to meet changing market demand over the next decade.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>An important foundation for electrification of the plant is <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/590082\/stellantis-lges-battery-jv-nextstar-energy\/\">the investment in NextStar Energy battery cell gigafactory (JV with LG Energy Solution)<\/a>. Production will start in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Another interesting move is that Stellantis&#8217; Brampton Assembly Plant will also be retooled and fully modernized, beginning in 2024 (production of the current L-series vehicles\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger will end).<\/p>\n<p>Production will resume in 2025 when the plant will <em>&#8220;introduce an all-new, flexible architecture to support the company\u2019s electrification plans&#8221;<\/em>.
