{"id":24077,"date":"2022-06-08T09:03:51","date_gmt":"2022-06-08T13:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=24077"},"modified":"2022-06-08T09:03:51","modified_gmt":"2022-06-08T13:03:51","slug":"norway-plugin-electric-car-sales-may2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=24077","title":{"rendered":"Norway: Plug-In Electric Car Sales Decreased Slightly In May 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New passenger car sales in Norway continued to decrease in May, as the number of registrations amounted to 11,537 (down 18% year-over-year).<\/p>\n<p>Plug-in electric cars are also in the red, but mostly because of the plug-in hybrids, because all-electric car sales still maintain last year&#8217;s level.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, <strong>9,820<\/strong> new passenger plug-in electric cars were registered, which is <strong>16% less<\/strong> than a year ago. The plug-in market share amounted to <strong>85.1%<\/strong> (compared to 83.3% a year ago).<\/p>\n<p>All-electric car registrations amounted to 8,445 (only 0.6% less than a year ago), while plug-in hybrid car registrations are down 57% (1,375 units).<\/p>\n<p><em>Plug-in hybrid sales continue to collapse due to reduced tax incentives (CO<sub>2<\/sub> emission component).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What we see in those numbers is the combination of supply constraints, market uncertainty, and in the case of PHEVs, lower incentives.<\/p>\n<p>Stats for the month:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BEVs: 8,445 <\/strong>(<strong>down 0.6%<\/strong>, at <strong>73.2%<\/strong> market share) + 1,183 &#8220;used&#8221; + 426 new vans<\/li>\n<li><strong>PHEVs: 1,375<\/strong> (<strong>down 57%<\/strong>, at <strong>11.9%<\/strong> market share)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Total: 9,820<\/strong> (<strong>down 16%<\/strong>, at <strong>85.1%<\/strong> market share)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/new-passenger-plug-in-car-registrations-in-norway-may-2022.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/new-passenger-plug-in-car-registrations-in-norway-may-2022.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"917\" height=\"429\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>So far this year, more than 47,000 new passenger plug-ins were registered in Norway.<\/p>\n<p>Plug-in car registrations year-to-date:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BEVs<\/strong>: <strong>42,455<\/strong> (<strong>up 22%<\/strong>, at <strong>79.2%<\/strong> market share)<\/li>\n<li><strong>PHEVs<\/strong>: <strong>4,695<\/strong> (<strong>down 73%<\/strong>, at <strong>8.8%<\/strong> market share)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Total<\/strong>: <strong>47,150<\/strong> (<strong>down 9%<\/strong>, at <strong>88.0%<\/strong> market share)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/new-passenger-plug-in-car-registrations-in-norway-may-2022-b.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/new-passenger-plug-in-car-registrations-in-norway-may-2022-b.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"917\" height=\"428\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>The gasoline, diesel and non-rechargeable hybrids were in the minority with 14.9% of the market last month (4.2% gasoline, 3.7% diesel, 7.9% hybrids).<\/p>\n<p>The most registered model in the month of May was the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/volkswagen\/id-4\/\">Volkswagen ID.4<\/a> with 915 units, which allowed it to get closer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/model-y\/\">Tesla Model Y<\/a> in the year-to-date race.
