The Japanese manufacturer is not developing its own bespoke EV architecture like most rivals, opting instead to use General Motors\u2019 Ultium to underpin the new Prologue BEV high rider, its first foray into this booming market segment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/586637\/first-2024-honda-prologue-suv-sketch-released-us-ev-plans-detailed\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22586637%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22first-2024-honda-prologue-suv-sketch-released-us-ev-plans-detailed%22%7D\">The Prologue has already been teased<\/a> and its design is about as traditional as they come these days. It still looks different enough to the CR-V or the Passport, but it will certainly blend right in on the Honda showroom floor &#8211; they really didn\u2019t try to make it look like an electric vehicle, like rivals from Tesla or Hyundai did with the Model Y and Ioniq 5.<\/p>\n<p>The teaser shows most of the Prologue\u2019s front and side design, but its proportions aren\u2019t quite right, and neither are a few other details. <em>TopElectricSUV<\/em> showed us their interpretation of what the production model could look like, adjusting the stretched proportions to make it look more like a traditional SUV and they also made the headlight design more production-like, as well as the mirrors larger.<\/p>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"image\" data-border=\"\" data-id=\"6645977\" data-title=\"\"><picture loading=\"lazy\"><source srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/mgl\/koo40B\/s1\/honda-prologue.webp\" type=\"image\/webp\" media=\"(min-width: 1025px)\"><source srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/mgl\/koo40B\/s3\/honda-prologue.webp 1x, https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/mgl\/koo40B\/s2\/honda-prologue.webp 2x\" type=\"image\/webp\"><source srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/mgl\/koo40B\/s1\/honda-prologue.jpg\" type=\"image\/jpeg\" media=\"(min-width: 1025px)\"><img decoding=\"async\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/mgl\/koo40B\/s3\/honda-prologue.jpg\" alt=\"Honda Prologue\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/mgl\/koo40B\/s3\/honda-prologue.jpg 1x, https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/mgl\/koo40B\/s1\/honda-prologue.jpg 2x\" width=\"16\" height=\"9\"\/> <\/source><\/source><\/source><\/picture><\/section>\n<p>Unless <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/honda\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22honda%22%7D\">Honda<\/a> actually keeps the proportions of the vehicle in the teaser sketch for production, which would mean it would look a lot like another GM crossover built on the Ultium platform, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/585460\/chevy-blazer-ev-spy-photos-interior-exterior\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22585460%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22chevy-blazer-ev-spy-photos-interior-exterior%22%7D\">the Chevrolet Blazer EV<\/a>, then this rendering is quite an accurate depiction of what the series Prologue will look like. Both vehicles seem to have their charging port located in pretty much the same place, hinting at their shared platform.<\/p>\n<p>The Prologue <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/578025\/general-motors-honda-ev-partnership-expansion\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22578025%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22general-motors-honda-ev-partnership-expansion%22%7D\">most likely won\u2019t be made by Honda<\/a>. GM will handle production, and although nothing official has been made public, one rumor says the Honda SUV will be built in Mexico. The automaker\u2019s facility in Ramos Arizpe reportedly began retooling in March of this year to be ready to assemble the new model.<\/p>\n<p>Honda did say it wants to take over production eventually, but even if it\u2019s moved to one of its own facilities in North America, the Ultium battery packs will still be coming from GM.
