{"id":24460,"date":"2022-06-13T10:44:58","date_gmt":"2022-06-13T14:44:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=24460"},"modified":"2022-06-13T10:44:58","modified_gmt":"2022-06-13T14:44:58","slug":"tesla-demand-model-y-right-hand-drive-markets-increase-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=24460","title":{"rendered":"Tesla is surprised by demand for Model Y in right-hand drive markets, will increase production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tesla has been surprised by the demand for the Model Y in right-hand drive markets, and CEO Elon Musk says that the automaker will increase production.<\/p>\n<p>The Model Y has been on the market for a few years, and it has already become the most popular electric vehicle in the world.<\/p>\n<p>While it has been on the market for a few years, it always takes Tesla a few years to launch its new vehicles with a right-hand drive configuration, and the Model Y was no exception.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/10\/15\/tesla-opens-model-y-orders-uk-deliveries-expected-early-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opened Model Y orders in the UK<\/a> late in 2021, and <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/02\/22\/tesla-launches-model-y-uk-other-right-hand-drive-markets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it started deliveries in February 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>By March, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/03\/04\/uk-reaches-new-record-electric-car-market-share-as-tesla-model-y-debuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it was already the best-selling electric vehicle in the UK<\/a> and pushing the country\u2019s EV shares to new records.<\/p>\n<p>But there are a few other right-hand drive markets out there, and Tesla is still expanding the Model Y to those markets \u2013 with the biggest ones being Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla has just launched the Model Y in the country, and it is reportedly seeing strong demand, which CEO Elon Musk acknowledged and said that Tesla plans to accelerate Model Y right-hand drive production:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignwide is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\" readability=\"6.7669172932331\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.218045112782\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We\u2019re working on accelerating RHD Model Y production.
