{"id":24462,"date":"2022-06-13T12:04:11","date_gmt":"2022-06-13T16:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=24462"},"modified":"2022-06-13T12:04:11","modified_gmt":"2022-06-13T16:04:11","slug":"1136156_ferrari-will-reportedly-expand-maranello-headquarters-for-ev-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=24462","title":{"rendered":"Ferrari will reportedly expand Maranello headquarters for EV production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ferrari is gearing up to add electric vehicles to its lineup starting from 2025, and a new strategy outlining the company&#8217;s electrification plans for the coming decade is set to be announced by CEO Benedetto Vigna on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to some of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-06-09\/ferrari-plots-expansion-of-italian-factory-for-electric-vehicles#xj4y7vzkg\"><em>Bloomberg<\/em><\/a>&#8216;s sources, part of the plan includes a major expansion of Ferrari&#8217;s plant and headquarters in Maranello, Italy, to support production of electrified vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Citing three people familiar with the plan, Bloomberg reported last week that Ferrari has purchased land adjacent to its plant, which will eventually be used for a third production line dedicated to EVs and hybrids, as well as to house a battery R&amp;D center.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrari Chairman John Elkann confirmed last year that an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1116415_electric-ferrari-locked-in-for-2025\">EV will be launched in 2025<\/a>. This first Ferrari EV is expected to be an SUV but leaked patent drawings suggest Ferrari is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1135009_ferrari-s-electric-supercar-has-a-battery-configuration-patent\">planning electric supercars<\/a>. With the European Union making moves to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136125_eu-edges-closer-to-ban-on-sale-of-internal-combustion-cars-by-2035\">ban the sale of vehicles<\/a> with an internal-combustion engine, including hybrids, by 2035, Ferrari may have little choice.<\/p>\n<p>The new strategy to be announced this week will be the first of new CEO Vigna.
