The <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/rumormill\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">rumor<\/a> says the next version of the compact <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/crossover\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">crossover<\/a> will offer a 2.0-liter four-cylinder aided with <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hybrid\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">hybrid<\/a> assistance and available with all-wheel drive. The current <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/toyota\/c_hr\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">C-HR<\/a> is only available with all-wheel drive when powered by the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter, not when fitted with the hybrid.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Spyder7<\/em> also says there&#8217;s a battery-electric CH-R on the way, to be announced sometime after the ICE version. <a href=\"https:\/\/electricvehicleweb.com\/toyota-c-hr-electric-first-photos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">Toyota launched an electric C-HR<\/a> in <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/china\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">China<\/a> in 2020, still the only market where the model is on sale. It packs a 54.3-kilowatt-hour <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblotg.com\/tag\/battery\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\" rel=\"noopener\">battery<\/a> powering a single electric motor with 201 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque to a range of 400 kilometers on the European cycle. The suspicion seems to be that Toyota could swap the electric C-HR over to its new Beyond Zero lineup that kicked off with the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/toyota\/bz4x\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">bZ4X<\/a> developed with <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/subaru\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">Subaru<\/a>. If that happened, a name change to something like bZ3X or bZ2X would be in order, and in fact, fingers point to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/12\/14\/toyota-ev-bz-lineup-concept-preview-tacoma-sports-car\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">BZ Compact SUV concept<\/a> (pictured) Toyota brought to its Explanatory Meeting on Battery EV Day last December. That BZ would provide toned down looks for the electric C-HR, the bZ4X would provide a version of its EV powertrain.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, the bZ4X gets a 71.4-kWh battery for the FWD version, a 72.8-kWh pack for the AWD trim. In FWD, a single motor makes 201 hp and 196 lb-ft, with AWD the two motors make 214 hp and 248 lb-ft. It&#8217;s not far off the Chinese-market C-HR as-is.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This being rumor, of course we have no idea if any of this will happen, nor, if it does, whether the electric C-HR\/bZ3X will come to the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carsales.com.au\/editorial\/details\/next-toyota-c-hr-to-go-all-electric-136060\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">Australian outlet <em>Car Sales<\/em> asked<\/a> its insiders what they could offer about the C-HR, the reply came back, \u201cNo news on a new C-HR model at this stage or any time soon \u2013 nothing for the next couple for years.&#8221; What we do know is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/12\/14\/toyota-ev-bz-lineup-concept-preview-tacoma-sports-car\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:15;\">Toyota is developing 30 new EVs<\/a> for this decade, targeting 5.5 million global sales by 2030.
