{"id":25157,"date":"2022-06-22T09:04:08","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T13:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=25157"},"modified":"2022-06-22T09:04:08","modified_gmt":"2022-06-22T13:04:08","slug":"toyota-production-cuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=25157","title":{"rendered":"Toyota cuts July global production plan by 50,000 vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TOKYO \u2014 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/toyota\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\">Toyota<\/a> on Wednesday cut its July global production plan by 50,000 vehicles as semiconductor shortages and COVID-19 parts supply disruptions continued to curb output.<\/p>\n<p>The world&#8217;s largest car maker by volume expects to make 800,000 vehicles next month, it said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As it remains difficult to look ahead due to the shortage of semiconductors and the spread of COVID-19, there is a possibility that the production plan may be lower,&#8221; the Japanese company said.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota and other car makers continue to struggle with supply-chain disruptions and component shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic including those resulting from recent lockdowns in <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/china\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">China<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Automakers are also having to compete for limited semiconductor supplies with other manufacturers such as consumer electronics device makers.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota stuck with its annual global production target of 9.7 million vehicles, although the company signaled in May that supply chain disruptions could eventually force it lower that number.<\/p>\n<p>The automaker on Wednesday also expanded production halts in <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/japan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Japan<\/a> next month at plants that make vehicles, including its GR <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/toyota\/yaris\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">Yaris<\/a> subcompact and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/toyota\/bz4x\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">bZ4X<\/a> electric SUV.<\/p>\n<p>Related video:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TOKYO \u2014 Toyota on Wednesday cut its July global production plan by 50,000 vehicles as semiconductor shortages and COVID-19 parts supply disruptions continued to curb output.
