It will be the first installation of the world\u2019s most powerful wind turbine, which has 14.7 megawatts (MW) of capacity.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-world-s-most-powerful-wind-turbine\">World\u2019s most powerful wind turbine<\/h2>\n<p>A service agreement is also included in the order for the offshore wind farm, which will be located in Scotland\u2019s Moray Firth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All 180 Siemens Gamesa B108 IntegralBlades \u2013 that\u2019s 60 turbines x 3 108-meter-long blades each \u2013 will be produced at the company\u2019s offshore blade factory in Hull, England. Each SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbine will feature a rotor diameter of 222 meters. <\/p>\n<p>To get an idea of the wind turbine\u2019s size, have a look at the prototype of the SG 14-222 DD in this short video:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignwide is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe id=\"post-youtube-video\" title=\"The SG 14-222 DD prototype has been fully installed and is ready for commissioning.\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zoAOlrdT46g?feature=oembed&amp;rel=0&amp;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\">[embedded content]<\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>A rapid deployment timeline targets installation of the first machines in 2024, with first power expected to be produced in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>As <em>Electrek<\/em> reported in December 2021, the SG 14-222 DD\u2019s prototype offshore wind turbine produced\u00a0its first electricity\u00a0and delivered it to the grid at the test center in \u00d8sterild, Denmark.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s likely that Siemens Gamesa\u2019s 14.7-MW turbines won\u2019t hold the \u201cmost powerful\u201d title for long. In February 2021, as\u00a0<em>Electrek<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/02\/10\/vestas-gm-worlds-largest-offshore-wind-turbine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas announced the launch of its new offshore wind turbine \u2013 the V236-15.0MW.
