{"id":26821,"date":"2022-07-14T06:03:47","date_gmt":"2022-07-14T10:03:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=26821"},"modified":"2022-07-14T06:03:47","modified_gmt":"2022-07-14T10:03:47","slug":"1136486_pagani-scraps-electric-supercar-plans-due-to-lack-of-demand-emotion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=26821","title":{"rendered":"Pagani scraps electric supercar plans due to lack of demand, emotion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pagani on September 12 will reveal a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1133962_pagani-c10-spy-shots-huayra-successor\">V-12 supercar to replace the Huayra<\/a>, a car that as recently as 2019 was set to offer at some point <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1121897_pagani-huayra-replacement-will-feature-new-v-12-electric-option\">the choice of electric power<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, Pagani has now abandoned plans for the electric version of the Huayra successor, company founder Horacio Pagani told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-news\/new-cars\/pagani-continue-releasing-v12-hypercars-after-scrapping-ev-plan\"><em>Autocar<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He cited a number of reasons, including a lack of interest among supercar buyers, the heavy weight of the battery, as well as the fact most of the energy used to power electric vehicles\u201490% according to Pagani\u2014comes from non-renewable sources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the moment 90% of energy is produced without renewables,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s silly to think that only a few supercars [in the world] with [internal-combustion engines] can have a negative impact on the climate when 90% of energy is produced in a bad way.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper first_wrapper\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100384833_m\" title=\"Horacio Pagani\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Horacio Pagani\" width=\"640\" height=\"289\" class=\"first_image lazy\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"463\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/pagani-huayra-in-bare-carbon_100384833_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/pagani-huayra-in-bare-carbon_100384833_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/pagani-huayra-in-bare-carbon_100384833_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/pagani-huayra-in-bare-carbon_100384833_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/pagani-huayra-in-bare-carbon_100384833_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/pagani-huayra-in-bare-carbon_100384833_s.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Horacio Pagani<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Pagani also told Autocar that EVs, while powerful, lack the emotion of internal-combustion cars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe challenge is to make an EV that gives good emotion like a normal [internal-combustion engine],\u201d he said. \u201cPagani isn\u2019t going to do something just with good performance, as you can do this [now], but to give emotion to the driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pagani&#8217;s Huayra successor, code-named the C10, will start deliveries in 2023. The car will be powered by a newly developed twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 supplied by Mercedes-Benz AMG, and will offer buyers the choice of a manual transmission or a paddle-shifted sequential unit.<\/p>\n<p>The total production for the C10 will be 300 units, and the first 100 build slots are already gone.
