RaceChip was curious to find out whether its modified BMW M3 Competition xDrive would stand a chance against Zuffenhausen\u2019s rocket in an acceleration test.<\/p>\n<p>With more horsepower and torque, the super sedan seemingly had an advantage. However, there\u2019s more to it than that since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2022\/04\/01\/bmw-m3-xdrive-winter-weapon\/\">all-paw M3<\/a> is about 60 kilograms (132 pounds) heavier than the 992-generation Turbo S Convertible. Nevertheless, RaceChip\u2019s M3 is a force to be reckoned with, packing a mighty 662-horsepower punch and a colossal 834 Nm (614 lb-ft). That gives it an additional 12 hp and 34 Nm (25 lb-ft) over the speedy cabrio.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing as how the adjacent video was posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2021\/04\/13\/video-see-what-a-racechip-can-do-to-your-f30-bmw-330d\/\">RaceChip<\/a>, some would be tempted to predict the M3 won. However, the tuner is keeping it real by not sandbagging the performance delivered by the all-conquering 911. The Porsche convertible won that day, but the gap frankly wasn\u2019t as big as we would\u2019ve expected. The amped-up saloon needed 7.07 seconds to go from 62 to 124 mph (100 to 200 km\/h), therefore completing the 0-124 mph (0-200 km\/h) run in 10.24 seconds. It did the quarter mile in 10.89 seconds at a trap speed of 127 mph (206 km\/h).<\/p>\n<p>It was even quicker in a subsequent acceleration test on its own when the M3 hit 62 mph (100 km\/h) in just 3.04 seconds. An even bigger difference was in the 62-124 mph (100-200 km\/h) run, which took only 6.01 seconds. It did the quarter mile in 10.56 seconds at 133 mph (214 km\/h).<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported, RaceChip waited about a year to take delivery of the xDrive-equipped M3 Competition but it was well worth the wait. When they got it, a dyno test showed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2022\/04\/06\/toyota-grmn-supra-bmw-s58-engine\/\">S58<\/a> was making 553 hp instead of the 510 hp advertised by BMW.
