But Dodge is vying for relevance in the electric-car performance world by appealing back to its muscle-car and NASCAR past with a nod to the heritage Daytona, which was the first vehicle to break 200 mph on a NASCAR track in 1970.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>The Daytona SRT Concept won\u2019t provide the linear acceleration feel that we\u2019re used to with EVs; instead Dodge says that the concept\u2019s eRupt multi-speed electromechanical transmission will deliver \u201cdistinctive shift points, throwing shoulders into seatbacks in true Dodge style.\u201d There\u2019s a push-to-pass feature that orders up a downshift in just 250 milliseconds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper first_wrapper\" readability=\"7\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100851814_m\" title=\"Dodge Charger Daytona Concept\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Dodge Charger Daytona Concept\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" class=\"first_image lazy\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"682\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/dodge_100851814_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/dodge_100851814_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/dodge_100851814_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/dodge_100851814_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/dodge_100851814_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/dodge_100851814_s.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Dodge Charger Daytona Concept<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Dodge brand CEO Tim Kuniskis acknowledged to <em>Green Car Reports<\/em> that while a single-speed EV is by far the most efficient, the multi-speed system will make the car \u201cway more fun to drive.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>As for that noise, there\u2019s a whole lot of it\u2014up to 126 decibels, which the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nceh\/hearing_loss\/what_noises_cause_hearing_loss.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDC<\/a> says is in a zone that \u201ccan cause immediate harm to your ears.\u201d It\u2019s a roar that Dodge says equals that of the SRT Hellcat gasoline model with the help of a \u201cbone shaking\u201d Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system that relies on an amplifier and tuning chamber. Details to come on how that can be controlled, how it makes the sound, how it\u2019s kept legal, and what it\u2019s exhausting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>Dodge didn\u2019t detail what powers the concept, which is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1133328_dodge-electric-concept-car-coming-in-2022-on-the-way-to-ev-muscle-car-in-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expected to closely preview<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1132841_fully-electric-ram-1500-pickup-and-dodge-muscle-car-both-due-by-2024-part-of-35b-ev-push\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fully electric Dodge muscle car<\/a> due to arrive for 2024. The steering wheel design goes for a thinner feel, albeit with a flat top and bottom and capacitive touch controls, and a pistol-grip shifter is another throwback\u2014yes, a shifter. An ambient lighting system helps illuminate some textural work throughout the interior, including Blue Plasma and Silver stitching and graphics on a carbon fiber floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><strong\/><\/strong>The Daytona SRT Concept is exactly as labeled, a concept car.
