The city-friendly <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/crossover\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">crossover<\/a> is months away from sailing into retirement, according to unnamed <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/car-dealers\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">dealer<\/a> sources, and the Japanese company isn&#8217;t planning on launching a second-generation model in our market.<\/p>\n<p>Citing a memo that Nissan sent to its dealers, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autonews.com\/automakers-suppliers\/nissan-will-ax-rogue-sport-crossover\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">Automotive News<\/a><\/em> reported that Rogue Sport production will end in December 2022.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the all-new Rogue and the recently redesigned Kicks, we will continue to cover this part of [the] market effectively,&#8221; Nissan vice president Scott Shirley wrote in the note. &#8220;We are also able to invest more resources in our current vehicles and next-generation products.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The news of the Rogue Sport&#8217;s demise doesn&#8217;t come as a surprise. Launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2017\/05\/09\/2017-nissan-rogue-sport-first-drive-review-98632\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">for 2017<\/a>, the crossover is essentially an Americanized version of the second-generation Qashqai that went on sale in many global markets in 2013; it&#8217;s a much older design than it might seem. While the Qashqai remains hugely popular in Europe, where it&#8217;s considered right-sized, it hasn&#8217;t been a hit in the United States, and the bigger Rogue outsells it by a wide margin. Specific figures are not available; Nissan lumps Rogue and Rogue Sport sales <a href=\"https:\/\/usa.nissannews.com\/en-US\/releases\/release-45822a26abbf59dfdcc394eac91f947d-nissan-group-reports-2021-fourth-quarter-and-2021-calendar-year-us-sales\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">into one number<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nissan will invest the money it saves by canceling the Rogue Sport into better-selling cars like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/05\/23\/2022-nissan-rogue-review\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">the Rogue<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/12\/28\/2022-nissan-kicks-pricing\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">the Kicks<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/06\/09\/2022-nissan-pathfinder-first-drive-review\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">the Pathfinder<\/a>. It renewed the Rogue and the Pathfinder in 2021 and 2022, respectively, and anonymous dealer sources revealed the firm has big updates planned for the Kicks. The second-generation model due out in 2024 will be longer, wider, &#8220;more SUV-like&#8221; and offered with all-wheel-drive.<\/p>\n<p>Rogue Sport production is scheduled to end in December 2022 but sales will continue into 2023 until inventory runs out.
