And Honda has announced plans to make a great many EV batteries in the U.S. This and more, here at <em>Green Car Reports.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Honda has announced a U.S. battery joint venture with LG Energy Solution that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1136977_us-based-honda-lg-battery-venture-future-evs-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">will power EVs from the Honda and Acura brands<\/a> for the U.S. market. And it\u2019s going big; with a planned capacity of 40 GWh per year, the plant might make enough cells for hundreds of thousands of EVs annually.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In a collaboration with the U.S. DOE, Toyota is aiming to \u201cbuild, install, and evaluate\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1136969_toyota-hydrogen-fuel-cell-tech-could-help-smooth-the-grid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1-megawatt fuel-cell power plant<\/a> that will look at how hydrogen might be used\u2014perhaps instead of big battery packs\u2014to buffer the grid or hold energy from solar or wind sources.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Geely\u2019s Zeekr premium EV brand announced that its Zeekr 009 \u201celectric luxury MPV\u201d will be the first production model in the world, starting early next year, to take advantage of cell-to-pack battery tech from CATL\u2014enabling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1136968_geely-zeekr-ev-brand-600-mile-catl-battery-tech-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a driving range well over 600 miles<\/a>, by China\u2019s cycle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Genesis last week announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1136967_genesis-electrified-g80-price-expands-ev-availability-more-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">starting price of $80,920 for its Electrified G80<\/a> luxury sedan, and it confirmed the wider availability of that and its GV60 EV already out\u2014now to \u201cselect U.S. retailers\u201d in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Washington.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>_______________________________________<\/p>\n<p><em>Follow Green Car Reports on\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/GreenCarReports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Facebook<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greencarreports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Twitter<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Battery supplier CATL\u2019s cell-to-pack tech will allow a 600+ mile range in an EV out early next year.
