{"id":31255,"date":"2022-09-12T09:03:57","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T13:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=31255"},"modified":"2022-09-12T09:03:57","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T13:03:57","slug":"1137107_volkswagen-shows-rugged-id-4-concept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=31255","title":{"rendered":"Volkswagen shows rugged ID.4 concept"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Volkswagen last week unveiled a rugged concept car derived from its ID.4 electric compact crossover.<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed the Volkswagen ID.Xtreme, the concept is based on the ID.4 GTX, the name for the the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136739_2023-vw-id-4-price\">dual-motor all-wheel drive version of the ID.4<\/a> outside the U.S. It sports tougher-looking styling, raised suspension, and more power.<\/p>\n<p>A more powerful rear motor and software changes increase total output by 87 hp over the standard ID.4 GTX, for a total of 382 hp. For reference, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136739_2023-vw-id-4-price\">the U.S.-market ID.4<\/a> is currently rated at 295 hp with all-wheel drive and 201 hp with rear-wheel drive. The interior gets some Alcantara trim, revamped seats, and orange accents. VW also gave the concept a unique sound, projected externally through a speaker in a wheel well.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle itself is a surplus ID.4 GTX prototype, with a used 82-kwh battery pack. It&#8217;s not the first off-road ID.4 one-off, though. VW has built ID.4 racers for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1132064_modified-vw-id-4-is-running-the-norra-mexican-1000\">NORRA Mexican 1000<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1133774_vw-tapped-rhys-millen-racing-tanner-foust-racing-for-rally-ready-id-4\">Rebelle Rally<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The ID.Xtreme was unveiled in Locarno, Switzerland, at ID.Treffen, an event for EV fans modeled on the annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/wrthersee-tour\">W\u00f6rthersee<\/a> enthusiast gathering in Austria.
