Automakers have been facing new problems caused by the unstable geopolitical generated by Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine, thus creating a perfect storm. Add into the mix high inflation and the European Union\u2019s decision to rely less on gas imported from Russia, many experts believe it\u2019s only a matter of time before there will be a recession in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>During an event organized by weekly business news magazine <em>Wirtschaftswoche<\/em>, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse firmly declared \u201cthere will be a recession\u201d in the company\u2019s home market. However, he isn\u2019t overly concerned: \u201cIt always sounds so dramatic. But we just don\u2019t grow anymore for a while. So, the world doesn\u2019t end there when a recession comes. The whole group \u2013 which includes MINI and Rolls-Royce, with ALPINA to join from 2026 \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2022\/01\/12\/bmw-group-sales-record-2021\/\">sold a combined 2,521,525 cars<\/a>. That said, the first half of 2022 wasn\u2019t great as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2022\/07\/08\/bmw-group-global-sales-dropped-h1-2022\/\">deliveries dropped by 13.3%<\/a> compared to H1 2021.<\/p>\n<p>BMW\u2019s head honcho doesn\u2019t expect the company\u2019s production to suffer downtime due to a lack of gas. In a recent interview with German regional daily newspaper <em>Augsburger Allgemeinen<\/em>, Audi CEO Markus Duesmann also stated he doesn\u2019t think operations will be interrupted by gas shortages. Per Germany\u2019s Federal Network Agency, gas storage facilities were at 87.95% full last weekend. Should gas supply become an issue, the head honcho in Ingolstadt anticipates there could be production bottlenecks in paint shops and at some of its suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, BMW has some new metal on the showroom floor, with products such as the 3 Series LCI, the next-generation 7 Series, and the X7 LCI. The hotly anticipated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2022\/09\/13\/bmw-xm-september-27-debut\/\">XM debuts on September 27<\/a>, with the new M2 and 3.0 CSL to arrive before the year\u2019s end.
