The French automaker recently teased a new electric <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/crossover\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">crossover<\/a> that bears a striking resemblance to one of its most iconic historical models. Renault will <a href=\"https:\/\/events.renault.com\/en\/?utm_source=EN_SitemediaRenault&amp;utm_medium=EN_SitemediaRenault&amp;utm_campaign=EN_SitemediaRenault&amp;utm_id=Mondial2022\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">reveal the new EV<\/a> on October 17 at the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/paris-motor-show\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">Paris Motor Show<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keen-eyed observers will immediately pick up the Renault 4 vibes here, and the automaker confirms the EV will be a \u201cnew take\u201d on the long-running model. Initially designed with a directive to be \u201cless ugly than the 2CV,\u201d the Renault 4 went on to take second place in the 1979 Paris-Dakar and was sold in some countries until 1994. That said, as the third member of the Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, Renault has access to shared technologies and components it otherwise might not. For example, the new Megane ETech EV rides on the same CMF-EV platform that underpins the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/nissan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Nissan<\/a> Ariya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2020\/01\/14\/renault-nissan-alliance-safe\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">Renault calls itself<\/a> the \u201cleader of electric mobility in Europe\u201d and says its EVs accounted for almost 15% of all electrics sold in Europe in 2021. Beyond the new Megane ETech Electric model, Renault offers a smaller Zoe electric hatchback and two electric delivery vans.
