Battery electric vehicle sales hit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coxautoinc.com\/market-insights\/ev-sales-hit-new-record-in-q2-2022\/#:~:text=Electrified%20pickup%20trucks%20are%20growing,(Still%20no%20Cybertruck.)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">another record<\/a> in the second quarter of 2022, rising to 196,788 as overall new vehicle sales slumped 20%.<\/p>\n<p>The electric vehicle share in the US rose to 5.6% compared to 2.7% in the second quarter of 2021. Automakers are introducing new EVs to the market with more range, superior technology, and zero emissions giving drivers a reason to make the switch. <\/p>\n<p>According to information from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2022\/08\/01\/americans-support-incentives-for-electric-vehicles-but-are-divided-over-buying-one-themselves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PEW Research Center<\/a>, 42% of Americans say they would consider purchasing an electric vehicle. The survey was taken before the historic climate bill passed, giving new incentives to buy an EV. What\u2019s more interesting is the breakdown by age group.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>18-29: 55%<\/li>\n<li>30-49: 47%<\/li>\n<li>50-64: 34%<\/li>\n<li>65+: 31%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Moreover, over half of them live in urban areas. Although it is true most EV owners charge at night, a growing number of people living in cities rent. Nearly 50% of people under the age of 30 rent, while 10% of those ages 65+ do. <\/p>\n<h2>Where EV charging stations are located now<\/h2>\n<p>Electric vehicles are expected to account for the majority of vehicles on the road by 2030. However, the most common reason Americans (<a href=\"https:\/\/blinkcharging.com\/fact-from-fiction-the-real-reason-why-consumers-dont-buy-electric-vehicles\/?locale=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">58%<\/a>) say they would not purchase an EV is because they fear it will not give them enough range. <\/p>\n<p>Although much is being done to alleviate this fear, there is an opportunity for businesses to participate while contributing to the future of transportation (and earning an extra profit). <\/p>\n<p>The Biden Administration has rolled $5 billion in funding over the next five years through the <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/02\/10\/biden-announces-5-billion-over-5-years-for-a-nationwide-ev-charging-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NEVI program<\/a> to build a national network of EV charging stations. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/electrify-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Electrify America<\/a>, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, is working to build a fast charging network across North America.<\/p>\n<p>Automakers like Tesla are also building their own Supercharging network to enable their drivers the freedom to go anywhere.
