{"id":33219,"date":"2022-10-08T00:04:31","date_gmt":"2022-10-08T04:04:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33219"},"modified":"2022-10-08T00:04:31","modified_gmt":"2022-10-08T04:04:31","slug":"1137411_foxconn-foxtron-model-v-model-b-teased","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33219","title":{"rendered":"Foxconn&#8217;s EV brand teases Model V electric pickup truck, Model B compact hatch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Foxconn has announced two more vehicles for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1133893_foxconn-launches-foxtron-ev-brand-with-trio-of-vehicles-including-750-hp-sedan\">Foxtron<\/a>, a fledgling electric-vehicle brand launched a year ago by the Taiwanese contract manufacturing giant during its annual Hon Hai Tech Day.<\/p>\n<p>The two vehicles include the Model V pickup truck and Model B compact hatchback. The company previewed both in teaser videos and confirmed the reveal for this year&#8217;s Hon Hai Tech Day, scheduled for Oct. 18.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BHEzbXn9iOg\" width=\"560\" height=\"550\" frameborder=\"0\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Foxconn was short on details but described the pickup as \u201cTaiwan&#8217;s first self-designed and developed multi-functional electric pickup truck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to gauge from the teaser, but the Model V appears to be a mid-size pickup. It also appears to have conventional brake rotors and not the in-wheel motors of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1128636_lordstown-motors-endurance-electric-pickup-truck-revealed\">Endurance electric pickup<\/a> that Foxconn will soon build for EV startup Lordstown at a plant in Ohio.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QEAisdM7Ky4\" width=\"560\" height=\"550\" frameborder=\"0\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Model B is a handsome hatch with a C-pillar design that looks like it was borrowed from the Volkswagen ID.3 compact hatch sold overseas. Foxconn said the Model B is based on the company&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1129998_iphone-maker-foxconn-reveals-modular-ev-platform\">own modular EV platform<\/a> first announced in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The platform also underpins a Model C crossover and Model E sedan, both of which were shown last year together with a Model T bus. Several of these will be built at the former GM plant in Ohio, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1134134_foxconn-finalizes-deal-to-acquire-lordstown-plant-agrees-to-co-develop-vehicles\">acquired by Foxconn<\/a> from Lordstown last year. Foxconn will use the plant to build the aforementioned Lordstown Endurance pickup, as well as a vehicle code-named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1133848_fisker-and-foxconn-reach-deal-to-build-29-900-project-pear-ev-in-ohio\">Project PEAR for Fisker<\/a>, and a tractor for electric farm equipment company Monarch.<\/p>\n<p>Foxconn this week also announced it will build prototypes for the One compact sedan from EV startup Indi at the Ohio plant.
