It&#8217;s called Hotel Hyundai, and it helps demonstrate the vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability the automaker is building into its vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>V2L allows cars to discharge power, and is even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134516_ev-to-ev-charging-f-150-lightning-and-ioniq-5-both-do-it-and-here-s-how\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approved for EV-to-EV charging<\/a>. In this case, a fleet of Ioniq 5 hatchbacks provides power for off-the-grid hotel rooms, a restaurant and bar, and even a cinema, according to a Hyundai press release. That power <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134484_first-drive-review-2022-hyundai-ioniq-5-plugs-into-new-wave-not-the-mainstream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flows through an adapter<\/a> that allows standard domestic appliances to plug into the car. The Ford F-150 Lightning is the first vehicle to allow actual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135743_ford-f-150-lightning-home-power-backup-system-price-installation-will-vary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">off-the-grid home-backup capability,<\/a> under warranty.<\/p>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">General Motors has also said that it wants its vehicles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135252_gm-future-evs-home-power-bidirectional-california-pilot-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to be home power banks<\/a>, and is starting to test the concept with a California pilot program. Working with utility Pacific Gas &amp; Electric (PG&amp;E), GM will allow some customers&#8217; homes to receive power from their EVs during power outages.
