{"id":33372,"date":"2022-10-11T06:03:58","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T10:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33372"},"modified":"2022-10-11T06:03:58","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T10:03:58","slug":"renault-ev-charging-stations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33372","title":{"rendered":"Renault plans network of EV charging stations along European motorways | Autoblog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PARIS \u2014 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/renault\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\">Renault<\/a> plans to build a network of charging stations for <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">electric cars<\/a> along motorways across Europe, the French carmaker&#8217;s e-mobility services unit said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The first charging station will open in a few months in southern France, with 200 more planned to follow by mid-2024 in France, Belgium, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/italy\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Italy<\/a> and Spain, Mobilize said, adding it was in advanced talks with potential partners to finance the network.<\/p>\n<p>Rolling out an adequate charging infrastructure and offering motorists convenient solutions when traveling is one of the main challenges faced by producers of <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">electric vehicles<\/a>, as <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblotg.com\/tag\/battery\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\" rel=\"noopener\">batteries<\/a> generally offer less driving radius than fuel tanks and take much longer to recharge.<\/p>\n<p>Renault, whose share price value has declined almost 70% since early 2018, is far from being a leader in the European electric vehicles market.<\/p>\n<p>But the company is pushing ahead with plans to split its EV and combustion engine businesses in a bid to compete with rivals such as newcomer <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tesla\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Tesla<\/a> and German giant <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">Volkswagen<\/a> in the race to electric driving.<\/p>\n<p>The new charging stations will be installed at Renault dealerships located close to motorway exits, with dedicated spaces where drivers can rest during the average half-hour charging period.<\/p>\n<p>They will be accessible around the clock and offer a lounge, playing corners for children and refreshments.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid the need to install new power grid infrastructure, Mobilize said it would use a stationary storage system the size of a small container which is capable of charging up to six regular cars of any make at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This will allow us to charge these containers very gently, without disrupting the power grid,&#8221; said Nicolas Schottey, head of Mobilize Power Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla has been rolling out high-performance superchargers for years and has a global network of about 30,000 fast-chargers that it says can give a 200 km (125 mile) boost in 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen expects its network of fast-chargers to nearly quadruple to about 45,000 by 2025, with 18,000 EV pumps in Europe, 17,000 in <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/china\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">China<\/a> and 10,000 in North America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PARIS \u2014 Renault plans to build a network of charging stations for electric cars along motorways across Europe, the French carmaker&#8217;s e-mobility services unit said on Monday.
