{"id":33379,"date":"2022-10-11T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33379"},"modified":"2022-10-11T04:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T08:00:00","slug":"storedot-extreme-fast-charging-cycles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33379","title":{"rendered":"StoreDot\u2019s production-ready EV battery cells achieve 1K extreme fast charging cycles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Electric vehicle battery start-up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.store-dot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">StoreDot<\/a> announced that its extreme fast charging (XFC) battery cell technology has exceeded 1,000 charging cycles in a production-ready EV form factor. <\/p>\n<p>StoreDot says its XFC EV battery cells repeatedly charged from 10-80% capacity in just 10 minutes and then discharged for one hour before recharging. The EV cells achieved over 1,000 of these extreme charging cycles consecutively before degrading below 80% of their original capacity threshold. No noticeable degradation occurred within the first 600 cycles in which the cells were consecutively fast-charged between 10-80%.\u00a0StoreDot says it expects to achieve further improvements by the end of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>When <em>Electrek<\/em> asked how many cycles StoreDot is hoping to achieve once the batteries are ready for commercial release, CEO Doron\u00a0Myersdorf replied by email:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\" readability=\"7\">\n<p>We have already hit our target that we agreed with most OEMs. This allows for a 500,000 km warranty already \u2013 assuming each cycle is for 500 km range.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>StoreDot is shipping the 300Wh\/kg, 700 Wh\/l high energy density cells in pouch format to its global automotive OEM partners for testing. It also announced that it had achieved 1,200 cycles for its extreme fast charging cells in prototype format.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/09\/01\/storedot-tesla-like-4680-battery-cells-charge-10-minutes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In early September<\/a>\u00a02021,\u00a0StoreDot announced that it produced the first fast charging 4680 cylindrical cell. In November 2021, the company claimed it had become the first to produce XFC cells for electric vehicles on a mass production line.
