{"id":33749,"date":"2022-10-15T00:03:58","date_gmt":"2022-10-15T04:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33749"},"modified":"2022-10-15T00:03:58","modified_gmt":"2022-10-15T04:03:58","slug":"1137495_gmc-sierra-ev-denali-teased-ahead-of-oct-20-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33749","title":{"rendered":"GMC Sierra EV Denali teased ahead of Oct. 20 debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next electric GMC pickup truck has a reveal date.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, GMC teased the Denali edition of its upcoming Sierra EV with a video, and confirmed its debut date of Oct. 20.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fMmBWAoBdng\" width=\"958\" height=\"539\" frameborder=\"0\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The production truck appears to be nearly identical to that of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134468_gmc-sierra-electric-pickup-due-in-2023-with-denali-luxury-hummer-ev-design-cues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">renders teased in 2021<\/a> with large C-shaped LED daytime running lights and inset LED charging indicators. A split headlight design mounted mid-bumper can be seen. Unlike most electric pickup trucks, the Sierra EV Denali eschews a full-width LED light bar in favor of a GMC logo and LED grille outline\u2014despite its lack of a traditional grille, for aerodynamic reasons.<\/p>\n<p>LED taillights (that somewhat resemble the lightning elements from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135523_first-drive-review-2022-gmc-hummer-ev-mainlines-electric-to-truck-fans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022 GMC Hummer EV<\/a>), a large panoramic roof, and quilted leather cooled front seats are also teased in the video.<\/p>\n<p>GM said it intends to build <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134861_gm-million-evs-north-america-annually-2025-electric-trucks\">1 million EVs in North America<\/a> annually by 2025, including some 600,000 electric pickup trucks. The automaker&#8217;s spending $4 billion to convert its Orion Assembly plant in Orion Township, Michigan to build the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1134653_2024-chevy-silverado-ev-electric-avalanche-400-miles-39900-base-price\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV<\/a> and GMC Sierra EV.<\/p>\n<p>These pickup trucks, along with the GMC Hummer EV, are all based upon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1133652_gm-details-ultium-ev-motor-design-a-key-for-more-range-without-bigger-batteries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GM&#8217;s Ultium EV platform<\/a>. The scalable platform is currently said to be capable of up to 400 miles of range in the Silverado EV with a 200-kwh battery pack. An 800-volt electrical architecture enables fast-charging of 100 miles in just 10 minutes on a 350-kw charger.<\/p>\n<p>The Silverado EV features rear-wheel steering to help shrink the big truck&#8217;s turning radius, and it&#8217;s expected the GMC Sierra EV Denali will feature the system as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The next electric GMC pickup truck has a reveal date.
